Hi all,

Interesting spot in 1/2 plo5...EP open, two calls, hero is btn with AAd83d2(ss) and flats, we are five ways $550 eff.:

Flop ($75): Ah-5c-6d. Rec bets $50 in CO, hero raises to $135 putting V on lower sets/2p mostly as we somewhat block straight draws, want him in hence the smaller sizing, he calls. HU.

Turn ($335): 7d. We now have top set and the nfd but no longer have the nuts (98). V checks, hero? Does whether you bet depend on whether you are blocking the straights? Is this a pure check without 98?

Thanks,
DT

We block 43 and 89, so bet for value.

Villain should not have 98 too often if he checks. Just pot the turn when checked to and get it in. Villain can have a lot of hands to call it off that are being crushed by you. Worst case for you is when somehow he decides to check 98***, and even then you're not in bad shape with 40% equity. Too many rivers where you will not get paid by a hand willing to stack off on the turn. Easy game.

Think I'd 3bet pre being on button. On the turn if you pot it I think he would fold all 2 pair hands, maybe continues with 66/55? Not really finding a lot of hands he'll call a psb with on the turn outside of hands we're behind to. If he calls a psb with 2 pair + then go for it, but if he doesn't I would check.

How often are we beat here? My guess is go 33-50% for value!

Fairly close between a check and a larger size bet. The extra flush draw equity along with straight blockers makes it lean towards betting.
