Tking control of a pot (mainlyonflop) when ahead and behind

Just thinking of when you want to gain control of a hand on a flop where you have nsd plus nfd combos and want to build a pot by raising players before you or check raising (when those times call for it) also on hands where you may just have a fd or maybe a 3 card straight draw and you put your opponent on possibly a pair and fd or some type of straight draw or possibly on the turn when opponent might have a pair of jj's on a q683 board plus fd or maybe q6 in his hand. These situation happen fairly often though out a session how does one go about it most effectively?
