I am providing the whole hand breakdown, but I am really looking for advice on river sizing and my (admittedly horrible) hollywood-ing/speech-play.
5-Card PLO Hi, 2-2 with 5 button straddle, $200 to $1000 buy in
H: ~4500
V: ~5500
We were the deep stacks but average stack otherwise was 1000-2500
Eight handed
Limps to H in MP with AhAd9s6h3h and I pot to 40, three callers including villain on button.
Pot 245
Flop: As Qh 8d
I bet 200, only V calls
Pot 645
Turn: 4h
I checked my cards and bet pot (645), V calls
Pot: 1935
River: 7h
Hero snap checks, V doesn't think long before betting 725
I give a shocked look and stare at the board, muttering "there is no way" a few times (I know, it was bad), before checking my hand again and then saying "if you got me you got me, two thousand."
I push in four stacks of green and V tanks for probably five minutes and I try to just stare at the board; eventually V folds and confirms that he had K high flush.
Anyway, I immediately regretted my bet size and how I approached the bet. I was also doubting if this was the right approach. Would I have gotten more value with leading small? Leading big? Is the check-raise the right line?
What would my check-raise bluff look like here? Sizing and behavior, I mean. Do we go for pot (4000ish... I kind of want to puke thinking about that... but really all-in for ~3500) with check raises bluffs and value?
Do we get more value (and look more like a bluff) just going full pot with a lead on river?
I realize these are champagne problems. I feel like I got greedy and made some dumb mistakes.
You're unblocking all of the bluffs so I'm good with the x/r. I think full pot on flop is better than this 80%. The speech play **** is so absurdly bad that it pains me to read it.
I can't tell you what your bluff would look like behavior wise. But it aint what u did lol. I like check raising. But check raise to full pot. Your top sets will often contain the ace of hearts so you know you will have bluffs here.
generally when you backdoor you want to size up. Backdoors look suspicious so if you're going to get looked up, it's best to size up.
i want to say this gets most value when called and helps with fold equity on semi bluff follow thrus, however i feel this is negated the times your bluffs are picked off and they fold to your vbs. i also i feel i'm talking out my ass here.
Just keep betting on the river. The speech "if youve got me youve got me" when checkraising the nuts is just awful. Your line looks like AA, so you can have the nut flush.
