Hi there,

I came across a post I somehow can't find anymore suggesting that over large sample the best regs playing zoom PLO under 200PL were losing *post* rakeback (normal tables being beatable).

Has someone a link to that thread ?

Thxs !

The answer to this question depends on the opponents on our table.... but as a general guide, how wide can we open UTG with pocket pairs? For example can we open the following UTG:

1) 9986ss
2) 8876ss
3) 6654ds
4) 8766ds
5) 9987ss
6) 5543ds

Thanks

Not really, hard to make a profit with these OOP. There are some rare circumstances where you can, but generally speaking just muck 'em. 9987ds you could often open even from UTG

Cool I kinda thought that might be the case. GGRJ would you say 9987ds is the 'bottom' of your UTG opening range for pairs?

Yea, I guess that's fair to say

I might still open some weaker pairs in rare circumstances, and def 6655ds type hands, of course

Coming from NLHE and starting to play plo5, noob question about cbets lines with AAxx or some non-complete air hands in 3/4-way pots OOP, on the following flops on which am I wrong by cbetting? (maybe I'm wrong on all)
KQx r
874 r
965ss
TT6r

I'm not cbetting on flop A (I think it's pretty std given the fact they're playing back with Kxxx) but yes cbetting on B and D on C 4way I'm not, 3-way I'm really unsure what to do

Might stab A multiways in position, others are pretty easy check-backs

I still c-bet KQxr 3ways as second to act and 4ways as third to act given blocker value on turns. NFD-blocker on 2-tone flops is also valuable

Again, check the rest as std

Any guys interested in joining a PLO micro stakes coaching group? A guy from RIO (not a producer, but active member) is starting a small coaching group for about 5 people and there are still a few spots left. At the end of this thread there is some discussion about it:
http://www.runitonce.com/plo/experim...ting-with-100/

Hope its OK to mention about it here. If just the time of the sessions will suit me I'll be joining. Not yet sure about the cost.

I suggest you post this at the study groups sticky

Hold'em is alive and will never die, unless online poker dies as a whole. What you might be hearing is the cyclical kvetching of entitled also-rans and has-beens, unwilling to do the work necessary to stay ahead of the curve. They said it was dying in '04, in '06, in '08, in '10, in '12. It's getting harder, the infrastructure more hostile, but it's not dying.

μPLO is a bigger rake trap than μNL; stick with hold'em if you want to maximize your earnings. But a $150 roll can't bring home the bacon anyway, and trying new things is a valuable life habit in general, so give the 0.01/0.02 PLO tables a whirl for fun (after learning the basics, obviously).

A few questions:

What's a standard play with AAAx hands in early position? Say something like AAA4? Limp with the intention of potting any preflop raise, and otherwise folding any bad flop?

I just ran some equity and AAA is actually really good heads up. The problem is, at the micro stakes almost any raise preflop indicates AA.

Also, if you are in a big multi-way pot and manage to river the nuts and everyone immediately shuts down, how are you trying to extract max value here? Bet a stupidly small amount, like 10% of the pot? Or a standard bet and hope someone else has a weaker hand and just accept that the action may not come?

Moving up from 5PLO to 25PLO the 25PLO guys seem to realize that multi-way someone is going to have it when the river completes the flush draw/board pairs. Frankly, I doubt most of them would call a $5 bet into a $50 pot with a set there. I have been playing these spots standard and usually betting relatively large and/or shoving if I only have a small amount behind. I'm fairly confident there is nothing that can be done to induce action there and just playing it standard and hoping you coolered someone is the right play.

I would compare the percentages you get from the PM's with the amount you'd get from a site like RakeTheRake. You can assume to get better customer service from an established site like that. That said my current affiliate has always been there for me, but I do have experiences with a shady affiliate who wouldn't tell me the site killed his deal so I was playing for a while with no RB.

I thought PLO2zoom and PLO5zoom where excellent when I started playing, you get so many hands and don't need to worry about timing out. Great for practise. After that I rather played the regular tables, but got in maybe 20k+ hands to better be able to read the board etc.

A spot that I often find myself get into at 25plo is when hero is in the SB and there are at least 3-4 limpers in the pot. We have a weak but nutty hand like AJ42ss to A.

I feel like we should call because of pot odds and because of our nut component, however we have the worst absolute position so that makes me want to fold.

Any opinion on how to play these spots? Thanks

I don't think there is one. Run It Once has a $10 subscription that allows you to see a part of their vids, I really enjoyed Galfonds PLO videos. He does his best to try to explain for noobs. I've also liked Deuces Cracked, but most of the PLO videos are quite old.

I just realized how insane rake is at the lower stakes. I paid $73 in rake playing 10 and 25PLO the last 3 days, with a bankroll of $450. Sick..
