I havent played for some years. Played both PLO and NL back then..
If i wanna start playing for an extra income playing like 30-40 hours a month and want some "easy" money at around plo/nl50. is it much less swings for NL when playing that low volume?
What would u choose?
People are much worse than PLO, so likely higher EV at PLO50. That said, will be swingier than NLHE. People are just more solid at NLHE than PLO, especially in terms of playing a tighter range pre.
Frankly, I wouldn't expect an "easy" time beating either game unless you're a pretty good player. Beating NL 50 would make you a good hold em player in my opinion. Beating PLO 50 is easier but would take much longer to figure out if you're a winner or just running good.
Hero raises to 3.5 BB, CO calls 3.5 BB, fold, fold, BB raises to 14.5 BB, Hero raises to 35 BB, CO calls 31.5 BB, BB raises to 110.96 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 75.96 BB, CO calls 53.28 BB and is all-in
Flop:(310.7 BB, 3 players) 7 3 3
Turn:(310.7 BB, 3 players) K
River:(310.7 BB, 3 players) 2
Hero shows A 2 4 A (Two Pair, Aces and Threes)
Main Pot [265.34 BB]: (Pre 69%, Flop 92%, Turn 78%)
Side Pot#1 [45.36 BB]: (Pre 85%, Flop 94%, Turn 78%)
Spoiler:
CO shows 2 J T J (Two Pair, Jacks and Threes)
Main Pot [265.34 BB]: (Pre 16%, Flop 3%, Turn 0%)
BB shows J J A 6 (Flush, Ace High)
Main Pot [265.34 BB]: (Pre 14%, Flop 6%, Turn 22%)
Side Pot#1 [45.36 BB]: (Pre 15%, Flop 6%, Turn 22%)

Let's run a scenario on this one!
You are kidnapped by ISIS and they issue a challenge where your only chance of release is if you can show a profit after 10,000 cash game hands at $0.25/0.50. You are only allowed to play one format.

Would you pick NLH or PLO?
This actually happened to a friend of mine.
I'd pick PLO. I'm pretty sure i have a negative expectation in 10000 hands of NLHE at that level. I'd have to run good to win in NLHE and bad to lose in PLO. If I had had a reasonable expectation of beating both games for similar rates I'd probably play NLHE.

Very interesting cause 10k is not much. This can be calculated with variance calculator if you know your both win rates. Not many people is good in both games if you don`t count Sauce and TruetellerI would personally choose plo
Just checked: Probability of loss with 10bb/100 in plo is higher than probability of loss in NL with 8bb/100!
I've passed the $100k mark in PLO. Been playing online for about a year and now have won $100,100 over 163k hands. Mainly 1/2 but some .50/1 and some 2/4+.
It has been funny how casual and easy it is. I had basically no PLO or online experience before playing. I don't really study the game though have obviously gotten significantly better over time. My win rate, which I initially assumed was unsustainable, has gone up over time. The lesson is my games are super soft. I play a 45% VPIP in 6 max and am often the tightest guy at the table n
