Just wondering in hand below, even though I was marginal favourite on flop would it have been better to call their flop bet and wait for a safe non heart turn??
This is a jam IP or OOP. Waiting for a safe turn card isn't a "concept" that applies to spots like this. It only really applies in spots where we can narrow opponents range down to a specific type of hand. eg. We have a wrap + FD, and based on action in a multi-way pot know that villain must have a set. We can call and save money by folding on non-board pairing turns.
Alternatively, we can wait for a safe turn card with a hand that isn't really going to be in that great shape if it gets it in on the flop. eg. Bottom set on certain boards is likely to be flipping/crushed if it gets action. But by flatting and waiting for a safe turn card, we under-rep our hand and allow villain to put money in again with a draw/worse value hand that he might have folded to a flop raise.
