Progress was made, far from satisfied, but I still firmly believe 2+2 should continue these meetings. And I also think that the PLO-community should try to get one of the two slots offered.

Zoom-rake should be on the agenda at the very least, as well as the upcoming table-starter only roll-out. I'll set up new discussion threads on SS/HSPLO for the reps to use.

GGaRJ, I think you did a fair job last time eventhough people were bit**ing.
Do you plan to be a candidate again this year?

I am interested in going if the majority of PLOers here want me to. We need to decide/vote amongst ourselves who to throw our support behind, would be a bad idea to nominate two for obv reasons.

Don't forget molf world champs, almost 48 hours away from the kids!

Joking aside, if anyone else is interested they should let us know asap so we can set up a vote.

Seems like a good list of movie recs, at least if you like obscure, unique, indie movies like I do. The only 2 movies on the list I've already seen, Jeff Who Lives at Home, and Sleepwalk With Me I thought were both excellent

That is a pretty insane and engaging old ep of the JRE I just listened to for 1st time this week. Third world is a wild + savage place. Some of the stats quoted on the ep are incredible and revolting: for example in Liberia something like 80% of women have been raped at one point in their lives, and a similar % have eaten human meat, including a lot of cannibalization between warring tribes.

Here's another similarly interesting JRE podcast w/ same guy Lots of "wtf that is actually happening here on earth, why the hell does no one know or care about this" moments

Worst 12 days of my life I got incredibly lucky to get him back when we found him he had dropped from 18 to 12 lbs. Probably didn't have more than a couple days left in him. Def the most intense cat search la jolla has ever seen

trambo - very cool! I thought savannah when I saw the pics, but it looks pretty small, like halfway between a normal cat and what I'd expect a savannah to look like. Is it high maintenance as a pet?

Hoopster81 - <3 whippets. My aunt owns a kennel, whenever we'd visit there would be 10+ whippets in the house, you could just sit on the floor and they'd swarm you with cuddles. Good ****.

Thread started with a puppy, here's an oldie. Right at the end of her life Although I've been saying this for a year now and she even survived eating a ton of dark chocolate left out by a certain hsplo'er haha

My camera phone sucks

WTF? Do I need to get a dog to become a hs pro? Is that what I've been doing wrong?

Nice dogs btw

Also Bob Marley fact some of you might not know, the lyrics "No Woman, No Cry" don't mean "If you're a man, you should not cry" but rather "Please don't cry, woman."

Jammin could be a good plo upswing anthem. Three Little Birds is the perfect song when that ugly downswing kicks in.

Maybe he meant something similar to the hedonic treadmill?

I am not saying it is right or wrong, but it is clearly not 'clueless' unless you read it totally ad verbatim...but that would be clueless, of course.

I'd like to think I'm not a clueless moron, and I quite liked the saying. I don't know how you could think it's terrible, except maybe for the fact that it's overly obvious.

Basically the saying means that if you base your happiness / self-worth on making money, no matter how much $ you accumulate, it's never going to be enough + it will be a never-ending battle that can never really be won. Anyone who thinks, "If I just had a million dollars, then I'd be so happy," (or for that matter any poker player who says "If I could just get to nosebleed stakes"/"If I could just bink a big tourney") is generally mistaken. Just look at all the people who win the lottery and then go on to commit suicide or have their life ruined.

And moreover, I think what the Marley quote is getting is that you need to derive your happiness and satisfaction not from wealth and affluence, but enjoyable activities and meaningful connections w/ other people.

Which is not to say that having a lot of money doesn't rate to improve the quality of your life, but just that it is far from the end-all be-all of measuring achievement and success as a person

I doubt Marley thought that deeply about it when he said it, but yeah I think that's generally accurate for the sentiment he was trying to express.

Also, there's many studies which have found once you get beyond the threshold of 75k+/year, there is very little correlation between $ made and happiness
