why pot flop?
Quick Checkup Thread - PLO flavour Quote

Because I'd like to get as much money in as possible when I have enough equity, plus I'd size it the same with e.g. QJT8, plus potting creates more fold equity as it sows fear in villains thinking that I'm impatient to get the stack in with the nuts.

Betting 2/3 of the pot is also viable; I actually choose betsizing in such spots depending on the mood

Couple of these situations lately. Pretty sure it's standard play, but just looking for confirmation. Villain is loose and more on the passive side. Check turn behind and re-evaluate the turn? Vbet if we hit and check down if don't`?

Well played. The ten closed only wraps; the loose passive villain could call the flop with any OESD too. Even vs infrequent nuts (without a better heart FD), we have 17 outs. Most of the time we're ahead and have to defend from draws such as clubs. There are villains that either minbet or slowplay with top sets, but they seldom do both things. By default, I'd exclude JJ from SB's range.

Villain is a bad player 56/11 ish. Would it be better to call the turn and re-evaluate the river? Nothing to worry about I guess as we got it in 45% vs 55% vs villain topish range.

I would just bet that flop, because it's not THAT often somebody has a straight on that board (I would estimate about 25-35% somebody has a straight).

A check more or less guarantees you'll lose the pot, unless you improve to a flush on the turn, and when you do it'll be really obvious.

I'm new to PLO too though, so don't take me word for it.

I fold against the 3b pre. It's most likely AA or sometimes a pretty rundown.

If you want to crack AA, you don't want to have a pair in your hand since it is beaten already and you are looking for 2 pair or better on the flop. Look for 4 unpaired and connected cards if you are calling 3bets.

As played I still fold. You just have a Q-high FD, a SPR of 3 and another guy still left behind you.

pretty new to PLO, posting a few line checks

Hand 1 villain is complete fish playing 98/60/16 3b over 102 hands
Normally I don't play this hand aside from opening CO/BTN but I know BTN would pay me off near 100% if I hit a piece. My questioning is the river, I bet super small for pot control and to protect myself from a bluff, 3/3 times I've checked to him on the river in HU pots hes just jammed the pot button and hes such a maniac I really can't put him on anything, hes turned up with air, 2 pairs, flushes, etc in spots like this(he calls really wide on every street, complete monkey) and I don't feel too comfortable checking to induce him to pot in this spot

1/2 live game with optional $5 straddle UTG or button. 8-handed. Game is standard loose-passive live game. 1 or 2 good players. 2 spewtards.

Guy in ep makes it $5. 6 callers including myself on the button ($510) with AcJc2cQh, and BB (one of hte spewtards who has me covered).

              FLOP ($30): 3c4sTc

Checked to preflop raiser who makes it $25, two calls in front of me, I call, BB calls. Do you guys like raising here? Thought I'd use position and call.

              TURN ($155): 3c4sTcKh

BB leads out for $100. Folded to me (last player to act). Reads on player: over-aggressive, playing about 80% of hands. I think he folds some of the time, but less than the normal player. I think his range right now is some sort of pair+fd+gutter, or two pair+straight draw. Can rule out a set.

Do you guys like calling here, or just ship now? Thanks.

              Results:

              Spoiler:
I shipped, he called and showed KQJ4 (ewww). We ran it twice. GG.

erroneous - wp: you wouldn't be able to steal the pot with so many flop callers, but on the turn you're HU and have so many outs that you're almost a favourite now so the semibluff is good.

dadude - pot/call the turn in hand 1 (idk what stops you - you're most likely ahead with nut outs and have to vbet), bet/fold $1 ott in hand 2 (you could rep both a flush and a full, once you check your range is capped and any alert villain will bet the river ~100% of the time; if he was known as a LAG you could bluffcatch otr but he's unknown so it's better to fold the river and not to set up such river spots later ).

Now here's my facepalm hand from a $33 regament (not a single true fish at the table wtf), the villain had 36/19 VPIP/PFR but was passive postflop (tbh I failed to see the latter because PT4 HUD couldn't hook the window and I had to check stats inside PT4 itself once in a while) from a tiny sample (i.e. only this tourney):

              Merge - $30+$3 PL Omaha Hi - 6 players
              Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

              BTN: 10,838.00
              SB: 4,900.00
              BB: 8,805.00
              UTG: 13,969.00
              MP: 3,934.00
              Hero (CO): 7,049.00

SB posts SB 30.00, BB posts BB 60.00

              Pre Flop: (pot: 90.00) Hero has 8 7 9 A

fold, fold, Hero raises to 210.00, fold, fold, BB calls 150.00

              Flop: (450.00, 2 players) T 6 A
BB checks, Hero bets 450.00, BB calls 450.00

              Turn: (1350.00, 2 players) 2
              BB checks, Hero checks

              River: (1350.00, 2 players) T
              BB checks, Hero bets 900.00

I think I should have taken a free turn even despite having only 6 pure nut outs. By the river, my range looked full of weak A***, but still I tried to rep trips .

What would be your line? Is it the best to give up and check it down?

Thanks! I indeed had a gut feeling that AK and probably AQ would bluffcatch the river (as they were suddently ahead of A6 and also flushdraws whiffed) but I didn't want to give up, probably because of the illusion of entitlement - several air bluffs had succeeded earlier in the session.
