Multiple players limp to us on the BTN and we need to know roughly what the + EV threshold is for overlimping. In this specific scenario we don't want to iso wide because we will get many callers or limp/jammed off our hand by the aggro fish in MP.

Here are some examples of hands and what I would do with them, please disagree aggressively if you think my intuition is off somewhere.
Basically, we want some nut components like NFD, high pairs for setmining or connectivity. I think KK is the lowest pair I would setmine with trash side cards and worst rundown with a low suit I limp is KQJT9.

I’ll elaborate.

A6432 can make a nut flush and is complete garbage otherwise. That nut flush just doesn’t pay off enough in 5 card.

88773ds, your idea that this hand is trouble multi-way is correct. But ultimately great poker is not about rules of the thumb but rather understanding equity and equity realisation vs pot odds at a deep level. This is why you see really good players often make questionably loose plays, that appear incorrect but are done for the right reasons.

T9876 is certainly priced in to overlimp.

The basic ideas you are using are great for starting out, but ultimately you want to go more nuanced to move forward.

Thanks for the advice
I was indeed thinking that "nut flush and complete garbage otherwise" was still worth a limp but I can get behind a fold.
T9876, 88773 I thought was much closer so I might be overestimating NFD and underestimating other components in general.

great comment and advice as usual, but could you please elaborate on the 88773ds?

Just to throw a number out there, i think you flop a set around 24% of the time, so that alone is not enough, plus there are some reverse implied odds there if someone has a bigger set. So why is this hand actually good? Again, since we are expecting MW the flushes cannot be very good, unless you flop a set and have the FD as back-up against straight draws or what not.

Thanks!

Good question

So we need to consider:
equity
equity realisation
implies odds & rev implied odds

equity
lets say there's two limps before us and we assume the sb will complete very often too, then we are putting in 1bb to win 4bb, so we need 20% equity.

Putting in 88773ds vs 4 limping ranges gives us roughly 20.5% equity, so barely making the cut.

equity realisation
This is where closing the action really helps. We'll almost never be pushed out preflop and we have position postflop which will hugely help with equity realisation and also with controling the size of the pot since we're mostly making medium hands that are easily cominated. Thinking of the kinds of hands that we make is also good here. So we're making middle/bottom sets/ weak flushes, straights, straight blockers. These are indeed trouble hands and so having position is mandatory here, I would fold this from the CO. While these maybe trouble hands we can acyually just play them all very passive: check back flops, call a turn bet, fold the river since weak sets and flushes are usually not calldown hands, so its actually not that troublesome or complex.

implied odds & rev implied odds
mostly just rev implied odds

As you can see this makes it really close, but what sways the balance is that I assume I have a significant postflop/hand reading edge.

Where (if anywhere) can U.S. players play 5-card PLO microstakes online? It seems like a fun game.

Not sure if it runs at micros, but it definitely runs low stakes at ACR
