Home game, 1/1 blinds, uncapped buy-in, most hands straddled - plays quite big. Very loose-passive pre, me and V in this hand are the main players also driving agression preflop. We have quite a bit of history, I would assume he views me as a bit of a maniac, although I very rarely get the big money in bad. Of the players who usually plays this game he is one of the harder ones to play against, due to being aggressive, putting people in hard spots and not being afraid of playing deep and betting (and bluffing) big. I do think that he has a tendency to be a bit loose with non-nutted hands. The last session we played I played horribly, reverting into a very passive mode of play when stuck, this session I have been playing much more aggressively. running and playing well and am up a bit, I am the biggest stack at the table.

No straddle this hand, he raises from the button over a few limpers and I re-raise AJ988 from the BB, get a caller and now he four-bets to something like 80 (don´t recall if it was full pot or not) and gets a caller. I have a short stack behind me left to act with a tad over 100 left, not enough to re-open action if he pushes. I call as well, shortstack folds and we see this flop:

8 7 6

So basically I flop the world. SB (stack - 300) checks, I check, he (stack - 500) bets 92. SB folds.

Action is on me. In game I did not think he would cbet this flop with only an overpair, so I assume that he has hit a part of this flop that is more than just AA/KK/whatever.

Do I check-raise all-in or do I cold-call?

Consider leading flop.
Raise. Would like to get in here as a big equity favorite over whatever he has before a scare card falls.

Thanks. That is what I did, he ranked for a while before folding black aces face up, so I guess he didn’t hit the board as hard as I hoped.

I would probably raise as played. Equity fav against a naked straight. Could get it in against dominated sets with Fds etc.

Turns might kill some action

You might want to consider leading to start to build a pot and are pretty nutted.

you shouldn't give results right away, it will kill any discussion from that point.

agree with others that you should consider leading since this board favors the callers' ranges and the most likely strong combo he can have as the 4 bettor (nut hearts) is in your hand. strong likelihood he will check back here.

once you do check and get him to bet, yes go ahead and get it in. unlucky that he didn't have enough to call, but that's life.

I made the post on the 29th and only got one reply, that´s why I posted results. Leading is certainly an option I should have considered, in general I think I am leading too few flops when not being the pre-flop aggressor. Thanks for the input!

I'd prob just lead out and bet big - it sucks if it checks around and the 4bettor obv has AA or some big broadway rundown so it might check through. I would also not be 3 betting this OOP this deep - this more than likely goes multiway most of the time and against good opponents playing OOP in a bloated pot is going to be challenging.

His flop bet is horrendous. That board smashes others’ ranges. Definitely exploit that with check raise.

Personally, I think you absolutely have to lead the flop. With the Ah and Jh in your hand plus a 9, that kills a lot of his viable flop betting range.

Thanks for the feedback. In hindsight I agree that leading would be best.
