This.
I've stated this for a long time in conversations around 2p2 and in my own blog. I wouldn't say I'm 'the authority' on live poker and high stakes live poker (trynhit for instance would be more of one) but I've played for a long time in many cities and poker rooms throughout the world. Tech kills games.
I wouldn't ban the use of iPhones because VIPs often like to use their phones at the table but I think making people have to stand up for prolonged use makes sense.
Ipads though and laptops etc at the tables should 100% be banned to generate action and to be fair to the gameplay and participation of the games. People playing PokerMaster etc at the table they create a bad environment and slow game pace (sure some will argue they don't, that they multitask well etc), however overall it's true. Plus it looks bad to VIPs, they come to play and have fun, dust some money etc. They're, i'm sure, already aware they're sitting with mainly pro's. They enjoy the challenge. If I'm a VIP though and I see a young pro sat with 2 ipads, playing poker on them, whilst he's meant to be in a game with me, well it'd just be totally off putting, for obvious reasons.
I think if you're willing to travel around and appreciate that's what is required to find the best spots then live plo is very much alive and well.
