PokerStars - $0.10 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

MP: 155.7 BB
CO: 110.9 BB
BTN: 94.1 BB
SB: 144.4 BB
Hero (BB): 174.2 BB
UTG: 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J 8 9 K

fold, MP raises to 3.5 BB, fold, BTN calls 3.5 BB, SB calls 3 BB, Hero raises to 17.5 BB, fold, BTN calls 14 BB, SB calls 14 BB

Flop: (56 BB, 3 players) A J 8
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: (56 BB, 3 players) 3
SB bets 53.6 BB, fold, fold

SB wins 53.6 BB

Pre I think our hand is a pretty nice 3Bet as a Reg opens from MP who folds a lot to 3Bets and 2 really loose players call on the BU and in the SB.
OTF I was already not really sure about wether to pot or to check. We got bottom 2 and BDFD + block some 9T straight draws but I think to bet/fold our hand is to strong and to bet/GII our hand is slightly to weak. OTT against the pot bet I think we are most likely up against some AJ/A8+ clubs FD combination and beat. What do you think?

BTW thank you guys for always replying and helping

Usually not a fan of 3 betting here from BB. We can see the flop for cheap when closing the betting then why 3bet and risk that someone will 4bet. Also we are 150bb+ deep so we can not easily push draws on flop and villains are more likely to call the bet.

Then turn seems fold. Our two pair is likely dominated and if we are unlucky our flush as well

I agree with Derjan.. At PLO 10 people under fold to 3 bets so I would just flat and see a flop cheaply.

Btw shouldnt we follow up on this flop? We hit AA which is exactly the hand we rep.

It's very possible SB only bets pot here with massive hands that have us in bad shape or crushed and it's a great fold but ... what is he expecting to get value from? What are you checking flop and calling on the turn with?

Even assuming we have enough of a calling range on turn the fact we got one of the best cards for us on the turn and just fold seems like flop has to be a bet. Note that I'm not a fan of a bet just because an A hits, because nobody is folding top pair here IME, but...

Imo huge nono preflop OOP 3betting. As played follow up with a cbet and x give up rest

we dont have A removal, and board is very wet.. there are close to none good turns of us to continue.. so imo its not bad to check, because we can pot control and see turns, and still be able to pot while repping a (small) part of our value checking range.
if someone bets its not the end of the world to fold tbh

check flop and pray we get to showdown.

I thought it was on ok play, except you should have semi-bluffed on the flop.

To stay balanced you need to 3-bet with hands other than AA. And if you don't occasionally bet a nice double suited run down then what will you 3-bet with?

The flop hits your range harder than the villain's and you have some nut straight blockers so you should bet. However, if you are called you are probably beat.

Yes, but should be doing that when the pot is likely going to be multi way and we are OOP?

Agree its better EV when you can play heads up with a shorter stack.

I don't think this is a great spot to squeeze. You're doing so into 3 players when you'll be OOP and 150bb deep with original raiser. Your hand is slightly too disconnected to consider squeezing. I think you need something like KQJ9ds or KQT9ds for the squeeze, and even those are marginal given the exact conditions here (150bb deep effective OOP, squeezing into 3 players).

It's ok to just call and close the preflop action.

As played, bet around 37bb on the flop or so. Whatever is slightly less than half of the BTN's stack, so that you can threaten re-jamming on the flop if BTN puts it in.

This puts pressure on MP as if he flats, he has to worry about BTN jamming behind and then re-opening action so you can shove.

If you are raised by MP or SB, fold. If BTN shoves, then call.

If it goes to turn Heads-up vs SB or MP, jam diamonds. You could consider jamming any offsuit 4, 3 or 2 against SB as well as those don't complete any straights nor add any meaningful additional draws to villain's range. I wouldn't do so against MP since his flop calling range would have to be stronger than SB who would be closing the action, so MP should fold to your turn shove less often.

I think I'd check fold everything else against both MP or SB unless you make a boat.

As played on turn, I would call as I think you have enough equity to continue (his range includes a fair amount of wraps and flush draws, and is not just better 2-pair +). I'd expect a fair amount of KK with clubs, Jack-X-X-X with clubs or diamonds, QQTx/QQ9x with clubs or diamonds, Axxx diamonds, etc. as examples of hands which you are ahead of.
