Hi,

How are you guys playing a Live 22 Game where it is standard to have a raise and a reraise every preflop?

Most Guys buy in for 500 but some for only 100.

As a general matter, don't do it. But I understand the compulsion, especially if that is your best game and it's the only game in town, i.e. no online poker where you live, more on that in a moment.

This depends on several things: type of game, how you play, dynamics at the table. The PLO game at Charleston plays much differently than the one at Napa Valley. There's also what you need to feel comfortable at the table. While I can make do with 40 buyins, I feel better at 50, and any more than that say 60+ then I can really open up my game entirely. So those are the things you should take into consideration.

To jump on my soap box for a moment, this is the #1 reason why online poker needs to:

1.) Be legalized in the United States across all states; and
2.) A legitimate, well-designed, well-run poker site that will rival the days of FT PLO.

With PLO, it's very difficult to get enough hands in to equalize the luck involved, which is one of the reasons live PLO can be very frustrating. Much easier to do this with six tables when you're consistently getting in the same spots.

If you have a skill edge on 6-7 of the 8 other players, then buy max. If buying max puts 10% of your bankroll on the table, find another game. If you don't have a skill edge on 6-7 of the other players, then.....

If you are not properly bankrolled and have to ask how to play a pretty standard live game like this, you probably shouldn't even be sitting in the first place.

If your gonna play nit in Plo you will probably miss a lot of chances to make money. You also will not bluff when you should.

Personally I don't play poker for a living nor do I keep a "bankroll" I have a good job that covers my fun money if I lose its not a big deal as the next paycheck I will have play money again. I don't have multiple days a week to play poker so if my fun/play money is gone I'm not heartbroken. Most people at low limit tables are in the same spot I am in and that's why they play games that are not conducive to their bankroll.

By far the best piece of advice I could give you, and I mean this out of genuine concern for your well-being and not in a mean way, is to stop playing poker. Based on your posts, you don't have a temperament where you will ever be a winning player at poker, and I think it's just going to bring misery into your life unless you quit playing.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right.
But how did you know?

I am absolute honest here.

Crashwhips is right IMO. Benni, you stood up to the entire forum multiple times and didn't have the self awareness to backtrack. I'll be an armchair psychologist for a second here and point to some ego thing (like the need to be right over doing what is right).

I'm not saying this to hurt you or devalue you.

im also looking to do the same. theres a game every friday of local bussiness men. ive played some NL with them and they are def. just playing for fun. but they only want to play plo high 2k min buy. which is way above my roll and im a complete fish at plo. but i cant stand to see all that money on the table with all the weak players . 2k is like 30 percent of my bankroll which it wont hurt me to lose because i still work a 9 to 5. but what im wondering is how much time am i going to need to put in to have an edge in a game like that. is it bad to take shots in plo do to the variance being so high?

i would not do it because i guess i'm a nit. i'd try to get into a game I can afford (maybe learn a variant that runs at reasonable stakes? this might be more/less feasible for you).

if you have no other options or just really wanna play i'd first make a sacrifice to the poker gods, then play with a stopless
