No, you're not misremembering. He does full opt river crs more than most players. Sometimes with hands that make me go "wtf?"

I mean hands like top set/medium straights on flush boards.

Sometimes I think his thought process goes:

"I don't want to call."

"I don't want to fold."

"I know, I am going to crai."

It really makes vbetting relatively thin ranges difficult and I don't consider not vbetting an option in most of those spots.

Honestly, like everyone else in this thread, I find certain parts of his game immensely irritating. Truth be told, this isn't even close to the most irritating.

I think kipa is pretty good and better/harder to play against than most of the semi regs at mid stakes, even if he does have some easily exploitable tendancies.

kipa is the easiest person in poker to play against if you have self control

I got a call from a Pokerstars guy yesterday, which had never happened before. He was asking my opinion about the table speeds that they had (fast and regular) and said that they were thinking about combining them into 1 table speed.

I told him that I never play the fast tables because I stack and get timed out all the time (probably because I dont use TableNinja or anything like that). He explained that there are other differences between the tables besides jsut the game speed. The fast tables deal cards faster, ship pots faster, give less time to people who dont have the auto-muck hand option on, etc). They were thinking of moving these features over to the regular speed tables whilst keeping the game speed (15 secs vs 8 secs before time bank kicks in) the same.

I just thought I would share this, as I found it interesting.

doesn't run it twice take extra rake?
******OFFICIAL STARS REGULARS THREAD****** Quote

yeah but it obv reduces variance and makes it easier to get SNE

+1 for running twice. Who cares about the rake anyway. With run it twice I bet I could get 5-6M VPP in a year if I really wanted to. That'd be sick

did some research and it's actually only $1 extra for the second pot on ftp. Obv it's a scheme but I think it's totally worth it if you wanna reduce variance.

wow I had no idea running it twice meant extra rake. I find it ludicrous that some of you still advocate it, knowing that. It is essentially pissing money away, albeit a small amount. What is wrong with variance? Variance makes the game exciting. I lost $20k last night in 3 hrs of 2/4 through 5/10 but Im right back on the train the next day.

i'd always thought it was the $1 extra rake, but then i saw a bluefirepoker vid from don nguyen (sp) where he advocated doing it and i figured i must have been wrong and that he would obv never do it if it added rake. i did some research though when a friend told me it was -EV and yeah i've stopped every since.

It can definitely be theoretically correct to take the -EV of running it twice in order to lower your variance. It's a problem of applying the Kelly Criterion, which maximizes your expected bankroll growth (which is the real goal in gambling, and is not the same thing as EV).

If you're playing high limits I think there's a very good chance running it twice is optimal for you.

Having said that I don't use it myself because I'm such a GD nit. I should definitely do it based on my effective roll though (meaning how much $ I have online).

Yeah it's definitely +EV if your roll is limited.

I think running it twice is kinda bad for the games as a whole, as variance is the main reason that attracts fish to the poker, esp. PLO.
There are certainly reasons for it, just dont do it if you dont have to.

For those who didn't get the sarcasm in my post, I pretty much think/thought like MM. I definitively think there is spots I would take them like when you take shots at a stake much higher than what u usually play when you are still building up a roll and when losing 10-20 BI is a big deal.

as silly as i know it is, I always run it twice nonetheless... the less variance the more detached I am the better I play the better I feel at and away from table yada yada yada happiness ev!
