Yah I'm never playing another happy hour again unless I happen to already be playing when they come along. I barely get more VPPs than a normal hour and about 1/2 the tables contain all regs.

happy hour tables are bad, but only because casual players dont bother with signing on at this time. after tomorrow the rest of the month will be much better.

ive played all happy hrs except one so far

well yeah, for people who play full time and can play at these times. there are even SNEs who have full-time office jobs. i don't even know when the happy hours are but changes are that they are during times when i'm either sleeping or at work.
they don't bother my vpp collections since i'm not going for any target, but i reckon there are plenty of people negatively affected by this.

they have different times. they deliberately move them around so everyone can play a full week with happy hours. check the promo page for more

Seems like stars has accepted all my papers into Canada so waiting for the final approval on Monday. Just wanted to know what the best way to get around $3-4k as quick as possible once my account is reactivated.

I have a RBC bank account with sufficient funds in it and my deposit options seem to be Echeck, InstaDebit, and ClickAndBuy. Any suggestions on which is the fastest to get my money onto Stars?

Email stars and ask them why moneybookers isn't available for you. In my experience MB rules.

So people hate happy hours. What do people want to see?

I am tinkering with an idea for a reload bonus that would require playing in different games to clear it. For example, x vpps in plo, x in nlh, x in flh, or something similar involving sngs, mixed games, who knows. Would this be good/bad for the games? Why?

not a fan of this. i dont like the idea of having to clear a bonus in a specific game that i have no interest in playing. how about just more reload bonuses in general? i.e. 10% up to $500 or something worthy of a deposit

Does Stars sometimes have some kind of reload bonuses/other bonuses (started to play there like a month ago)? I'm not going to be SN or anything so it would definitely make occasional grinding on Starts more tempting..

wait a sec...

in this thread you have one person seriously saying they dont like them, and that person appears to possibly have not understood the promo from his second post (sorry, correct me if im wrong here napsus). otoh you have another person saying they love them, and the reaction in internet poker afaik was entirely begrudgingly positive.

not bad but only on very small bonuses and play through requirements. should really only be targeted at the micro stakes players that would enjoy it.

i would go nuts being forced to play any decent amount of hands at nlh for eg.

I actually like this idea if you could choose like 3 game types which you would like to play. Like PLO, MTT's and mixed for ex(would be my choise ). If you're forced to play game types which you don't like then it's a really, really bad idea..

I'd like to see a 20% milestone bonus increase across the board. Makes up for the lost vpps and encourages high volume (aka loyalty).

instead of making happy hour something that gets regs to play more, they should make it something that encourages recreational players.
"free stars t-shirt if you make 100vpps playing mixed games, today only!"

you are correct.

after checking the promo, i could realistically at most benefit 25% of the happy hour VPPs. other times i'm at work or sleeping,

but like i said, i choose to play on stars for other reasons than VPPs....just brought it up thinking about the guys who are not full-time poker players but still play a ****load.

I think it would have to be like a pick 3 out of X game types. It wouldn't be a huge bonus or huge clearing requirements. Something to bring recreational players and regulars into new games. Don't think of it just as you having to play other games. Think about NLH or LIMIT guys playing in your PLO games. It would benefit everyone.

agreed. I would not want them to require huge vpp requirements.

I think it would need to be something like this. X vpps in Y game types out of Z.

Things like this are definitely under consideration. I don't think they attack the root of the problem, though. Too high of rake and lack of new deposits seems to be killing the games.

FTP had happy hour promotion that worked for players in different time zones. How hard would it have been for stars to copy it?

What about FTP's schedule worked? What about Stars' current happy hour doesn't?

  • Happy Hour: Good idea, benefits both the regs and recreational players. One hour a day is not enough tho, for example the first week it's 5AM my time. Make it twice a day, let's say every 12 hours and it's a lot better. Or copy FTP.

  • The pace thing stars have running this month for supernova+ sounds good but they should do something similar for all VIP levels.

  • Maybe more bonus options for the lower stakes/volume players. The gap between the 50$ and 300$ bonus is big.

  • Prizes giveaway might be a good promo for recreational players, something similar to what Merge did not so long ago. Grind X amount of VPPs and win an iPad (or whatever).

Problem with recreational players is they usually only play 1 table at a time and don't put in a ton of volume. You need to reward them in other ways since the VIP program is geared toward high volume.

At the moment Stars only offer 1 hour a day.

Another nice thing FTP had is shorthanded happy hour, rewards those that starts tables.
