IÂ’m a returning PLO player whoÂ’s had about 10 years off.

IÂ’ve started grinding a new BR, currently beating .10/.25 pretty easily over small sample. Some success in PLO MTTÂ’s too.

Lifetime I have played a lot of PLO and I feel like I have developed many qualities as I have got older that I didnÂ’t have back in the day that might make it feasible for me to do pretty well now, ie; move up and stay up.

However; I donÂ’t know how to really knuckle down and refine my game. I signed up for RIO essential, but I have zero idea what videos to watch, whoÂ’s a decent coach, or what order to watch them in. It seems really disorganised tbh.

I contemplated hiring a coach, but to do that I think I need at least a couple hundred thousand hands for him/her to delve in to.

IÂ’m super tempted to try vision, but itÂ’s a lot of money at my stakes. Can you win free months somehow? IÂ’m sure I read something about leaderboards.

I thought about mastermind, but honestly Nandez doesnÂ’t seem like a fit for me after watching a bunch of his streams on YouTube. (Is it just me or is he a nit?) WhatÂ’s his actual background? Like did he beat 5/10+? Idk tbh.

I guess IÂ’m just hoping someone vibes my internal struggle here and takes the time to write down their thoughts for me, because IÂ’d really appreciate it a lot!!!

Also, no money in poker everyone is solid.

I think that's the worst option, much better to get elite for one month and download a bunch of videos and see what you like.

There's a recent PLO course on RIO that includes a month of vision ... however I think that's a double edged sword because to get the most out of vision I think you need to be dedicating a lot of hours to playing it. But at least you'll see if it's something you like and get benefit from.

A decent coach shouldn't need anything like that many hands.

I was playing for a living (NLHE) before Black Friday and recently got back into the game. Just picking some area and focusing on that is going to be a good start. Getting some big picture overview of what solvers/GTO have done to change the games is also useful, and some of the adjustments you can even immediately apply. At the very least one can start learning GTO preflop ranges as a baseline. If you're playing and come up with some areas where you often feel uncertain (3bet pots as caller OOP?) then some set of videos/content might exist where you can put some effort in.

As for coaching, I think there's just going to be so much low hanging fruit that it's not a good use of money. I haven't used RIO, but if they have Discord/forums, you could ask where they recommend starting too.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I couldn’t see any course that came with a free month of vision.

So once you have elite you can just DL the vids? I thought you may lose access after your sub is up?

Thank you for your response, I think you make a valid point about perhaps there’s stuff to address prior to considering coaching.

It was this one: https://www.runitonce.com/courses/plo-puzzle/

Doesn't appear to have that bonus now, maybe it will again (Eg. black friday sale).

As for the videos, you can't just click on them to download ... but it is possible (look for firefox/chrome extensions to download media), it works the same in both so try the extension before you upgrade (you'll also want to make sure you don't trigger by the mass download security -- so don't try to download everything).

Hi, just thought I’d post an update;

Still struggling to find a proper avenue for learning, currently have a runitonce elite sub but there’s no concise series that I have found yet that I’m like right this is what I need.

MTT’s going ok, the play even at higher $+ is Terri bad. Final table bubbled the PLO millions on GG. Satellited into the circuit PLO $800 and just got rundown by dogshit all in pre twice so I’m confident at some stage I’ll run good in a shot taking situation.

Cash is ok but because I’m not really progressing mentally I’m reluctant to really put my foot down because the whole idea is to take new habits and skills, apply them at current stakes and then move up to where they are really effective. Instead I kind of just autopilot and somehow run at 20bb/100 and still feel like I’m dogshit tbh. When I say that what I mean is, I feel like I’m capable of so much better, but I don’t know how to get there.

Any and all help appreciated/ suggestions etc.

Sounds to me like you're over thinking it. If you're beating your current stakes at 20bb/100 just keep doing what you're doing and wait until you hit the ceiling then evaluate at that point.

You're def overthinking it. Watch every RIO video, take notes, e-z game.

LeeFaeBlue has a good process:
