Hi all,

We open KJ755ds on the fish's straddle from MP (wide, but I wanted to get involved with straddle) and go four ways to:

($80): K73r. We bet $35, only fish calls.

Turn ($150): K bringing bdfd. X, hero $65, he calls. Putting him on Kx here once he calls the turn.

River ($280): Tr. He donks $100. I didn't know how to interpret this bet - as a blocker bet or a "please call" value bet with KT. He has another $180 behind. For me it's between call and fold here but part of me briefly considered value raising.

Thanks,
DT

Preflop isn't close it is pure fold. The straddle tightens up preflop ranges, this hand wouldn't be raise from BU so raising it from MP is attrotious play.
I would go bigger on the turn, half pot is ok. OTR call button.

This open is insane. I’m not one that’s gonna be like oh the solver says it’s a fold by .1 this is bad. But this is torching money, even from the button this would be more a fold than an open. Even vs a whale.

If you wanna get involved in more pots in these types of situations look to limp some
more hands that do well in a mumtieway/implied odds situation.

Not gonna comment on post because these spots should not happen as a pro player.

It's a clear raise on the river. Also with your small turn sizing he has a lot more than Kx in his range. If you bet big and he called then he's going to have a lot of Kx but you bet small so his range is kinda wide. Once he donks 30% river he is really repping hands worse than K10 so you have a clear value raise.

Also the people saying this isn't an open preflop are technically right but in my opinion it is fine as I play junky hands against fish/whales quite frequently and have a very high win rate.

In general though I would fold that hand preflop from every position except the button.

Pre is torching for sure. I would often check the turn and call or xr depending on sizing.

River is a call based on your read villain has kx, but even then i think its close vs. Raise.

why would you fold the nut fullhouse on the turn?

I would think the turn bet should be bigger - he only calls with Kx+ so a lot of value you get here is against second/third best hands. I don't see folding the river - I think it's either a call vs raise. It's really a factor of how these games play - would think this sizing is leaning towards weaker value hands but I don't know how they interpret a raise. Think I default raise here as it's 5 card with a ton of combos and expect them to make more mistakes then me.

Call river, expect to lose frequently.
