Hey all,

Two tone flop, on turn, picked up K high flush in MP on river with 2 other players, one in EP, one on button.

On river,
EP check,
MP check,
Button bets about 2/3P

Button is a player who could be making a move.

So button bets,
EP folds,
and its to me.

Can I call here or is it just a value bet with NF way to often to be called?

{I don't believe that I can ever raise here profitably (as NF calls or re-raises, and weaker hands would fold, offering no extra profit for raising), so in my mind its a call or fold spot}

Any thoughts or insights appreciated.
Cheers
PLOhi

My experience is that suited kings can not be played profitably in multiway pots. I'd fold to anything other than a small bet; 2/3 is a bet for value/the suited ace.

Why aren't you value betting this river yourself? 1 player left to act - are you scared to bet because he might have the nuts?

As played I would never fold here since he could easily be value betting worse, quite apart from the chance he's bluffing. But it does depend somewhat on what the action was on earlier streets.

1) He 'could' be making a move (EG not a total ABC player) not the same as 'he is' making a move

2) The site this occurred on does not have hand histories in the same way PokerStars does (Eg it only has a graphical review but no output available for hand conversion). Hence the brief summary of the hand.

Yeah, at the time I was thinking i really only had showdown value with K high flush, since in PLO lots of people play Axs. I was expecting that a bet by me would only be called (or raised) by the Nut Flush, and any other hand would fold to the bet (fearing Nut flush (or K high flush, since if they didn't have A and I had K, they could have at best Q high flush)

However i see your point as a bet here would have prevented a 'bluff bet' (but not a 'bluff raise') on the river, which potentially could have helped me to avoid getting in this tough spot

Cheers for your insights

Betting would be for value and not as a blocker. People will call 1/3 pot with worse. You can still fold to a raise.

If you check and induce a bluff from the button then this is a great result, even better than betting, because you're not folding.

Which route to take depends a lot on your perception of the other players' aggression levels and bluff frequencies, as well as what you think they have - for example if you think they have some showdown value then they're less likely to bluff, so you should value bet.
