In my area you can find some 1/2 tables with more chips (and action) on them than the 2/5 NL games.
We don't really have any 2/5 PLO, but the 1/3 PLO plays 'plenty' big once the stacks start to grow. The fickle Player pool just doesn't want to play with a BI of more than $500 allowed. That doesn't stop from having 10-12K on the table. And IMO, that's where good Players can take advantage of deep stack play mistakes that are bound to come from too much folding or putting it in too light.
% bigger? I'd say your opportunities to earn (so to speak) come along 4-7 times more often in the PLO games than the 2/5 NL games while $150-400 size 1/2 NL hands come around 2-4 times an orbit at the right tables.
I'd say that 1/2 and 2/5 move just as many chips around in any given hour, but you'd experience smaller swings in 1/2. Compared to 3-4x the amount of chip movement in an average PLO game.
You ask a standard "It depends" question .. Pros need to be versed in all the games available in their rooms AND also (more importantly) be able to game select for 'today's' max value. GL
