Eh FWIW I didn't notice the size of the raise, I just assumed it was a standard raise.

Obviously that changes things a little.

i suppose because you need some strong hands in your calling range so you don't always get blown off your over pairs.

In the hand I posted, I was really only worried that my river bet size inspired to him to raise J3 for value. I think he is flatting AJ on river much more than raising, and regardless, I think he mostly raises AJ on flop or turn. Also a pretty good chance he raises J3 on turn, not to mention there aren't that many hands that have J3 in them, and I think he just flats the river with J3 some % of the time. Regarding my river sizing, it just seemed like a spot where he always has a J, so a spot where I'm rarely bluffing, so smaller bet seemed better to get payed off by weaker J's (probably thinking too much into it, cuz ppl are just giant stations and never folding a J). Probably should have went bigger, because he seems a bit stationy. That said, because he seemed stationy, don't think he ever gets crazy and shoves a bad J as a bluff, he just calls.

From his chat afterwards, I'm certain his play was for value, and think JJ is atleast 3x as likely as AJ, J3.

i really like the way you played this aprt from not betting a little bigger on river.

the type of players that would raise AJ for value on river would almost certainly have raised flop or turn. and as said, not a whole lot of J3, J33 combos he could have.
