Handling Tight Opponents in Small Stakes PLO Cash Games Handling Tight Opponents in Small Stakes PLO Cash Games

I've been playing in some small stakes PLO cash games on Global Poker and have noticed that many of my opponents are extremely tight, only willing to commit significant money with very strong hands like top set or better. Players rarely seem to put money in with strong combo draws, or bottom/middle set. I'm struggling to find the best approach against these types of players and would appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

In my recent sessions, I've noticed that in about 9 out of 10 hands where I have middle set, my opponents are only willing to get it in on the flop when they have top set. This has made it extremely difficult for me to find profitable spots.

What strategies do you recommend for playing against tight opponents in these small stakes PLO cash games? Why am I never in a profitable spot when the money goes in on just about any flop, regardless of how many draws or anything is on the board, unless I have top set or better myself?

I can’t possibly play this game while thinking that middle set is never good against any raise. That can’t be right.

Yes middle set is garbage against the players you describe so to avoid big losses you need realize that is true. You won't win a big pot save by hitting outs you should never be chasing as you won't have the correct price. You will win many small pots by bluffing every hand. Until they are more balanced the exploit is to be unbalanced in a way that takes advantage of their weakness which in this case is they fold hands like TPTK to aggression.

Thanks for the wake up call. You’re absolutely right.

A general strategy is to attack tight players with a high frequency of small sized bets- they will over-fold and when they show aggression, simply fold your marginal holdings
