Today this came up actually, aggro utg open and I am btn after a few calls with AA456sss(to ace) and 3! squeeze, utg 4! to $500. Gross spot $1k eff. Wasn't sure what to do, felt like utg was strong.

Trivial jam.

Even if villain has better, premium aces he willl only be a small favorite.

Aakqt ds is 53.4% vs your hand.

I put V on premium aces and flatted - there was a short stack all in for $250 so I knew I was getting it in bad for the side pot already. I felt like the best move was to fold since I was behind for main pot and side pot too since it was a dry side pot and I need 50% to be profitable there and probably did not have that. Anyway the flop came KT5 rainbow one spade and he shipped. So I had AA+5+bdnfd+bdsd at spr 1 for the side pot.

The short-stack wasn't mentioned in your previous post.

Equity-wise it doesn't change much but calling and giving up certain flops could be ok. Its also possible by calling we end up overfolding vs other aa and hefty sidepot, which becomes expensive fast. I would rather flat an aa with better postflop playability since 654 doesnt connect with a lot of flops.

If we get it all-in 3way, shorty is almost always small equity favorite over 2 other aa hands. 36.5% shorty, 33.7% premium aa, 29.7% your aa.

So its not like getting it in is a punt or anything, its clearly +ev after all the action.

As played, think the flop is still a clear call with only 500 left.

This is interesting. You know I get the concept you’re raising but on the flip side because our AA is of lesser strength that also seems to counsel in favor of not getting stacks in as a likely dog and save our last $500 on some bad flops like monotone no? We’re also in position.

The question becomes how confident are you that you are playing your position correctly.

Because if you haven't spent serious study time in comparable spots you could actually be bleeding while thinking you are saving money.

And like i said, you are probably overthinking the lesser strength - the difference is not large.

Again - the issue is low spr, if you are playing 3k effective flat becomes more attractive.

Also: part of the reason we like seeing flops in position isn't to fold, its to bluff - similarly we aren't deep enough to clearly achieve much fold equity here.
