Hi all,

I am interested in EP ranges in omaha. I don't believe there are elaborate charts on the interweb like there are for hold 'em because there are too many hands in omaha (4- and 5-card), but general categories would help. Personally I've been toying with this:

EP: All AA and ds AAA, dsKK with connectivity, AKK, AQQ, AJJ, ATT with suited ace and connected side cards, four or five broadway cards, preferably with A-high suit, A-broadway-broadway suited ace and two cards 7 or above, double-broadway pairs, ss/ds K-high rundowns connected with lowest card a 7 (KQJT7 eg.), ss/ds Q-high rundowns with lowest card a 7 (QJT87 eg.).

I mix some limps as well depending on table dynamics. At passive tables I am opening everything but at more active tables I limp more of my range (usually the weaker part but also some of the weaker AA and monsters for balance/to limp-re-raise).

Thanks,
DT

I guess I’m more interested in bouncing off some ideas here.

Well imho you should also open some broadway pairs with good sidecards and all double pairs almost, other than that, I open similar to you. That is for plo, not pl5o. All of these hands can call a 3bet.

I don’t open lesser double paired hands in ep. They’re just not that good in plo5. I forgot about the nut broadways like 79TJJ and 89TQQ. Those are opens especially ds. Thanks.

Really from 4 card to 5 card you want to open a tighter range as big pairs have less value, non nut draws have less value, etc. Position also offers more value in 5 card - I don't think charts in 5 card are that useful as there's way too many combos to break it down. I think OOP we want to focus on building pots with nut draws as I'm sure most pots go multiway - you can also bluff more with a nut blocker as it's more likely you have it vs 4 card. In position I would 3b more in 5 card than 4 as equities run closer and you want to punish people calling raised pots OOP. I think AA/KK are very hard to play in 5 card without significant side cards - AA has 39% equity preflop vs 2 opponents playing top 20% of hands, KK is 33%. Basically in my mind the more cards you have preflop the closer equities run, the more position matters.
