What is the basic difference here in strategy? Why play a cap game instead? What kind of players are in cap games, I am assuming tighter. How do you know if cap games are for you.

If anyone feels like spewing about why or why not to play cap games and how to attack them, please respond. I'm looking for information or sites that give this kind of information.

Thanks,

from what ive noticed cap games at the lower stakes are ridiculously good games. The avg pot is high as is the players/flop. The games are definitely high variance so make sure you have many buyins for them, many 60? Many times in these games, either everyone sees the flop on a single raise and stacks off light or there is some lagtard fish who raises limpers and 3 bets and stacks off light on all streets.

In the 1st type of game i would probably flat a with most hands i'd want to play unless it was a very strong hand like double suited Aces with good connectors or double suited high wraps which play very well postflop. Try to flop big and get it in with a lot of equity. 3 betting vs a raise and several calls invites too much action and ur equity drops a lot. In the 2nd type I might 3 bet any hand i would want to play since the fish is going to call all raises and we have only a PSB left on the flop making it 'correct' for the villain to stack off with anything on the flop.

absolutely not. avg vpip is probably 10% or more higher than regular plo. less aggression overall (ie more 6way limped pots, more raise and get 3 callers, fewer 3bet pots, but the ones that happen are more likely to go 3bet, followed by 3 callers.). a lot more multiway spots.

the majority of cap players are loose passive (even moreso than regular plo).

you talk about 60 buy ins, but what would be a buy in when you can't get more than 40bbs in per hand? I've been having this debate lately within my own noggin. I remember the variance in these games, but if you look, they DO have a higher average pot and a higher amount of people per pot, about 10% as rollwave mentioned. The one big downside though, is when you get your monster, you're only going to get paid off up to 40bbs

60 for low stakes cap is probably good. So you will need 2400 Big Blinds to play the game. Once you get to a higher level though, say around .50/.100, or 1/2, you will probably want more than that because you will be playing against a lot better players and your edge wont be as big.

i for one am really not a fan of the cap games. I like the fact that in PLO when u enter a pot u may have defend ur hand with ur whole stack. I think the cap takes away from the reward of finding good spots imo. I know the ave pot is much higher but in 6 max im not looking to play a ton of pots, but i like the ones i do play to be bigger than 40BB's. Thats just how i feel but to each his own.

If you like multitable grinding, it keeps things simple. Stack sizes always same. Lots of donks stacking off light, true gambling atmosphere.
