Calling a smaller bet seems fine, but a pot size bet I am not sure of.

First off, count:

1) your outs to improve
2) your outs to the nuts
3) your outs if opponent has a flush draw

Your answer generally flows easily once you have those numbers. The general advice is not to chase non-nut wraps, especially on paired boards, especially multiway. The best way to think of this is just that both a boat and a flush beat a straight, and even when you hit the turn, either of those can fill the river; at the same time, either of those can hit the turn and you're likely drawing dead.

They're sometimes worth a call, though when you do call, it needs to be with a lot of care and attention. And, in case it's not obvious, the difference between having a pair and not having a pair can be huge.

This specific hand/board is sketchy AF, could be in really bad shape and OOP.
