BTN vs. BB Strategy Question

No hand history here, just a general strategy question.
BTN vs. BB, BTN steal attempt (don't ask what BTN has).
Flop is QQ5 rainbow
BB checks. Should BTN bet or check behind?
Alternatively....
BB leads for 1/3 pot. Should we, as BTN, fold, check, call or raise?

GTO generally encourages stabs, so in the first case we should mostly bet. There are many low pair hands in our range which need protection OTF. In the second case, a lot depend on our cards I think, what we block and unblock etc.

I would think they should bet this flop everytime as they have a range advantage vs BB, and you want to build a pot in position which will be troublesome for BB. If BB leads a flop like this we still have a range advantage and I think the donk bet readless doesn't tell us much so we should call and play the turn.
