$8-16 game at the Orleans. We get a free look from the big blind with 66xx (no low cards). 4 to the flop, SB, MP and Button with us. Flop is A76 with a flush draw. What is our strategy here? If we check flop and Button bets, should we check raise?

This is a tough spot. I had a very similar situation recently.

It’s hard to give specific advice without knowing stack sizes and villain patterns. If you’re both deep, I would suggest c-r. If a tight V plays back, you have high confidence that you’re toast. If they just call, then high likelihood they’re drawing.

In my situation, V was tight ABC player. I made an error and potted his bet. He wasn’t deep and had less than pot sized bet left. He went all in and I had committed myself to call for about 20% of the pot ($110 into $550). I felt completely committed even with extreme confidence my bottom set was no good. Sure enough he had middle set.

The key message here is that these spots are highly dependent on stack sizes and V tendencies and can’t be assessed based on hand strength alone.

In general I'm playing these types of hands passively. If we check raise and get called, we're usually slightly ahead/behind or wayyyy behind.

Wait, what? What is this 'limit' omaha you speak of, as I didn't know such a game was spread anymore live or online lol!

To my knowledge the $8-16 Omaha game at the Orleans is 8 or better. In this example with a made low already available I would fold a naked bottom set without much thought as the best we can do is draw at half the pot.

Yes, was 8 or better. I guess I should fold here, talked to another O8 player who thought fold was good too.

Yea Hero can just fold. Note that a straight will almost always be possible on the river if a boat isn't.

Exception is a276x j/q/k.

With the flush draw and possibility of bigger sets and boats, this just isn't a profitable spot to contest.

Thanks for the answers. Bottom set can truly be a trap hand in O8 multiple ways. It's not a spot I find myself in often, since small pairs are really only playable from the BB or as part a hand like A244.

I was thinking check raise might be an option here if we continue to try to get the hand heads up versus what might be some sort of weak stab, Like A2JT from the button, trying to knock out some weakish hands from the 2 other limpers.

There just isn't enough in the pot to make this a play worth trying.
