Hi all,

Playing 2/2 at Parx, we 3! a utg open and a call to $35 in sb and they both call. We are $700 eff.

Flop ($100): KK3cc. We have naked Ac. We bet $50, original raiser raises to $125, folds to us. We flat to keep his range wide and not run into it as we are pretty deep. Does anyone just get it in here?

Turn ($350): 4c. We check he checks. Seems like he didn’t like the club and doesn’t have a boat. We plan on betting a lot of rivers even if we don’t fill up.

River: Qs. This particular river could have improved him to a boat if he had KQ. We could also have KQ. Certainly boats are a part of his range. Do we still bet? We have some showdown value as it is.

Thanks,
DT

I think we rip it in on the flop.

Think we have a great hand to check call down with.

@Mark I’m not sure ripping here is optimal bro 350bb deep.

Feel like flop raise is pretty weak tbh, I’m flatting “trapping” because I think I have the best hand most of the time and he has tons of dogshit and obviously worse trips sometimes. When we nearly drawing dead well, gg but I don’t want to inflate the pot.

I might check rip it in his face on the river if I think he’s trying to value me with a flush though.

I don't like to rip it in with trips when holding a pair .. even AA

Initially the weak raise feels like 33 or Kx, but the Turn check is interesting on both of those counts

I don't mind a bet/fold or a check/call OTR depending on my history with V and my table image. I've seen a lot of posts by DT and still not sure of his style!

At most tables I've played at going into Pot Mode is a bad recipe without a very good V read. We certainly could've bet the Turn on the flush, which allows us to follow up OTR. But after checking Turn I would get a lot of 'weak' flush calls OTR if I now choose to lead out.

These spots really stink for the most part .. I guess I lean more towards protecting the stack lately since you really get hit in the nose if you fast play AK here and end up with 33 or KQ on the other side. More apt to get value from weaker Kings by soft playing than getting flushes to fold by potting IMO. GL

In terms of choosing which hands to call down with, wouldn't we prefer AK with two other live kickers, or with a flush draw? So if we'd like to have AK in our b/3b range, which it feels like we should, we should be choosing this hand?

Hiya Wazz, are you saying we should b/3b this hand in particular because it’s very strong but hard to improve?

Thanks

I agree with Wazz. We have plenty of AK in our 3b range and this one needs a lot of protection. I would pot flop to 475 and shove dark on the turn.

Yes exactly.

Ok. I like it.

I’m going to go ahead and say the frequency with which we get 4bet shipped on for piles is pretty low, but with that in mind at what stack depth do we start thinking about what if’s.
