Hi all,

Hero opens A7543ds at 5/5/25 (A-high hearts, 4-high diamonds) utg and gets four callers.

Flop ($435): Ac-8d-3d. We flop top and bottom and a 4-high flush draw, nut gutter, and backdoor wrap. We are $1,700 eff. so spr is around 4. We check to evaluate and it checks to the late position caller (80% VPIP whale, bets a lot) who pots. Earlier he potted A85 with what was likely a draw as we scooped both runouts with AK5T7 and know he could not have had a better made hand on the flop since the 8 paired on the river. We also got it in against him with top pair and overs against middle set and chopped. So he is wider than most, but can also have it. Folds to hero here.

I guess a general question is how far do you adjust your calling/gii frequencies against these loose aggro players, borderline maniacs? This hand against a typical player or rock would hit the muck pretty quickly for me.

Thanks,
DT

Something is off here, you have the 3d both in your hand and on the board. Maybe you meant you had 5 high diamonds and a 5 high flush draw?

I may have gotten the suit wrong but I know I had a low flush draw with 34dd yes. It was probably the Ad on the flop.

I can’t imagine this is a gto open utg. I’d just go with it due to whales being whales.

This is a clear fold pre. The hand just doesn't flop well enough.

As played you have no choice but to fold, the hand is dicey on the flop and can barely improve. Only 3 outs to the nuts and a couple of outs to the near nuts. The hand can't stand much heat on later streets

How late a position would you want to be to open this hand?

Fold pre. Also should say how many players are at the table. Pretty easy check fold on the flop imo, we're mass multiway and there are a bunch of players still to act.

Actually it’s folded to me with two players who checked to my direct left who have expressed little interest in this flop thus far.
