Been a long time since I posted a hand, but I played this one the other day and it has had me thinking...

First time playing against villain. Definitely a one tabling recreational player. He is splashing around a lot pre, is fairly active in general, but other than that I haven't seen him do anything out of line or strange yet.

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A K Q A

fold, MP raises to 3.5 BB, Hero raises to 12 BB, fold, fold, fold, MP calls 8.5 BB

Flop: (25.5 BB, 2 players) J 7 2
MP checks, Hero bets 15.4 BB, MP calls 15.4 BB

Turn: (56.3 BB, 2 players) T
MP checks, Hero...

Flop: I don't really like any of my options. I think checking and having to guess on a lot of turns feels really weak, but with this board texture maybe it is best (?). With that in mind I felt like bet/folding was the best of all not so great options. Not sure about sizing.

Turn: Since he checks to me I am starting to lean more towards a flush draw, but still not sure. I feel like once again there are no great options, and plus turn gives me a few more outs. Now that I am looking at this, a check feels like the most sensible thing, but still not sure.

Thoughts on all streets are welcome.

Bet/fold I think, this texture is quite good for our range

Bet/fold is bad, we're pretty much committed if we bet. (edit: on turn, yeah bet/fold flop is fine)

I slightly prefer check, bet/call is fine though, higher variance but makes things easy.

Pre and flop obviously standard.

I still think b/f turn can be ok this deep if the sizing isn't too large

Pot the turn. Get it in if you have to. You're still ahead of his range and could use some protection. When you check back here, you are kind of face up as some kind of AK/AQ/KQ/AA/KK combo so rivers are going to play really bad for you. You're generally not going to get paid on good cards, and you're going to get bet into on neutral/bad cards. Flop bet/fold is good, but I'd size bigger. At 200 deep, he's probably not folding any semblance of a piece to a 2/3 sizing.

Thanks guys. I did end up betting the turn. Mostly just because it felt like the right thing to do, and I would be lying if I said I had a larger scheme behind it.

Agree. I need to reevaluate my sizing on both flop and turn.

River felt pretty straight forward. Deuce seems like a pretty good card for me to value bet, and opponents reaction to my small bet looks just like that, a reaction. No hand that beats me makes any real sense, and if he somehow does have a random boat or 2xxx then more power to him.

I would play JJxx, TTxx exactly like villian did. I was a bit surprised he didn't show up with one of these two combos given his river play. I think you played it fine though.

I feel like I would have heard from JJ or TT at sometime in the hand before this. If it was JJxx, then I would have definitely been looking to get more money in on the flop, except for maybe the rare AJJx with nfd, in which case I can understand playing it a little slower. TT seems a little more plausible, but if I spiked a T on the turn and saw my turn bet sizing, I might have shoved on me.

I dont know. Maybe I am playing my sets wrong in this spot.

my two cents:
OTF his x/r range: JJ,89T:Kdd+,J7+:Kdd+

call range 27+,(J,7,QQ+) :dd,Qdd+,89T,89+: (dd,J,7,KK+)

then OTT:
getting x/shoved (i dont think he'd have leading range too often here, but not sure) :

89,JT:QK:dd,9JT: (Q,K) :dd,TT: (dd,8Q+) 20% his total range, hero has 22% against

calling range: J7+,T2+: (dd,9Q+),Q9K,J+: (QK,Kdd+) 40% of total range, hero has (only 44% against)
*so saying 'this turn hits our range' is a bit of exaggeration imo

on the other hand side
~40% of his turn range are folds and we have 64% against those - so making him lay down what I assume is folding ragne is rather significant +EV for us

mb someone can draw conclusion out of it.

I think his flop calling range will be a lot looser at such a small bet sizing on this board texture. Any gutshot with backdoor potential or lone A/Kd, any pair with backdoor potential or lone A/Kd, any fd. This is just right in the sweet spot in terms of board texture bet size and SPR where laggier guys get up to some OOP floating shenanigans.
