online 6max
125 eff with sb
villain unknown, 7 hands no reads

family limps

i limp otb 8642 ds

flop A73 xyz

xs to co who bets, 3 of us to the turn

turn A735 (backdoor fd, offsuit ace)

xs to me, i bet 20 into 22, only sb calls

river A7358 (offsuit 8)

sb x, i bet 22 into 62 sb jams for 74 more or 96 total.

nice example of where a prudent fold pre can easily spiral. For 1bb otb 6way i think it's fine to get involved if you can get yourself out if you need to.

what combos of 96xx are calling the flop? and then are in a good spot to call turn? i found it hard for 96 to get there after calling flop and turn.

986x (a986, t986)
965x (9654, 9865)
964x (9864)

it should be noted the 964x combos require villain to xc ott versus lead or xr.

wondering how anyone else thinks through these spots on the fly or ranges an opponent, and is this as clear a fold as it appears? i was downbetting after the fd missed and felt he could possibly be making a play or blowing me off a chop. thanks for any and all input

I'm having a hard time finding 986 combos that villain gets to river with too, let alone combos without the 8.

I'm probably calling, and expect we chop more than see the nut straight. But also expecting all sorts of stuffs from rando.

Villain shouldn't expect Hero to have many 96 combos either so may xr very wide.

Flop sizing does matter - the hand history is sort of incomplete and makes it harder to evaluate.

I think raising the button is better than limping here - maybe it lowers the amount of players going to the flop which is preferred for your hand but the worst case it just raises the stakes when you have the best position. Would fold the flop - as played I'd call the river getting what looks like to be around 2 to 1. Could have 689, maybe A569, but you also chop a fair amount and who knows what else he shows up with.

fold pre our hand sucks mw and we're paying high rake.

as played I'd fold the flop but it *is* a pretty sweet gutshot when we bink.

as played I'd full pot the turn. why deny yourself value or fe? it adds up.

as played I think we don't have enough midrange advantage to size all the way down to B33, even exploitatively. prefer B50 as the smaller of two sizes because the river introduces new nuts. I don't have a good way to process his kr except that we chose a size that seems able to induce spew so I go with that. But also 9765, 9763 should be added to your list imo.

Probably the most important takeaway from this hand. Don't limp behind with utter garbage for crying out loud. It must be very low stakes, so the rake is also massive. Limping this hand loses probably 0,3bb or something, which translates to 30bb/100.

Agree with everything. I think we can pot / fold river.

Why so small on River? I assume this looks weak online and live .. almost begging to get raised.

What's calling down after we go bet/bet? Sets?

Gotta go bigger on River and maybe be willing to fold ..

TBH if you're going to bet small/fold then I'd just take a Showdown and move on. I get it .. no reads, but the way to get reads is to see their cards 'cheap'. GL
