When floor says the word "ten", it means the player has 10 more seconds to decide. (And if you argue with that premise you need help.) Interpreting it any other way is nonsensical, plain and simple. I don't think it was a premeditated angleshoot by Prahlad. He just benefitted from an atrocious ruling. He has the right to rely on the floor's ruling, so when floor rules dead hand, he can muck it and that action stands. The ruling is especially atrocious since, as others have pointed out, it allows an astute player (like Prahlad) to completely freeroll his opponent: if Mr. Dog turns over an inferior hand, he can keep his cards in front of him and claim he called, at which point floor may ask the dealer who would confirm that she heard him say "I call" before time expired (and you actually heard the dealer confirm "call" before floor declared hand dead.) Heads-up play by Prahlad.

Exactly. I don't know how any of you are questioning it, especially as the sequence of events went 3...2...1.call..Dead. Even the countdown guy knows 1 isn't the end of the count.

Jacky boy is doing that new math! This is so simple. I mean, if I put you on a clock and I start the clock at 10 seconds, it should sound pretty much like this as I press the clock's start button:

10......... (with each "." representing somewhere near 1/10th of a second)
9.........
8.........
7.........
etc., etc.
1....(I CALL!!!!).....TIME!!!!!

The floor made a mistake. And the greatest rapper of all time caught a break.

and yeah that barking guy definitely needed to get thrown off a bridge, was pretty annoying, but there's always "that guy" every year once u get past day 1

Building a 100 m fence with posts 10 meters apart is analagous to counting time. The countdown ends with 0, the eleventh number in the set, just like the fence ends with the eleventh post.

Seems like the rest of the table should have been more upset with the PF dead hand - I would definintely want PF gone and the barking guy to have all his chips.

Time expires when last second rolls off the clock equaling a full second.

Dam why is that hard to understand? 10 seconds = 10. Not ****ing 11

It's a perfectly apt description. A second is a period of time. A count marks the interval. If you're going to count off ten seconds you need eleven marks. Ending at "One" is nine seconds.

"Ten" (begins the countdown)
"Nine" (one second lapsed)
"Eight" (two seconds lapsed)
"Seven" (three seconds lapsed)
"Six" (four seconds lapsed)
"Five" (five seconds lapsed)
"Four" (six seconds lapsed)
"Three" (seven seconds lapsed)
"Two" (eight seconds lapsed)
"One" (nine seconds lapsed)

Yes, and those 11 posts represent the 11 numbers from 10 down to zero.

11 numbers are spoken, yet just 10 seconds have elapsed.

Just like 11 posts are needed, yet there are just 10 fence segments.


A 10-second "fence" with 11 "posts":

draidin if you're arguing that Jack was correct, I'm sorry but you're wrong. There's simply no other way to go about it.

When the floor announces "ten" it equals 0:10:00. when the floor announces "one" it equals 0:01:00. Still 1 second left on the shotclock.

Your interpretation is incorrect because you surmise announcing 10 numbers = 10 seconds, when in reality announcing the first number simply begins the countdown, whereupon an additional 10 numbers would need to be announced
