I got a couple of requests......

remember that circuit event where some dude got drunk and was actually thrown out on the final table? is there footage of that around yet?

Also a strange one, from the WSOP '03......phil ivey is on a table and phil hellmuth is also on it but is running late, and is running to his seat and slips and almost falls over.....Ivey is looking at him like WTF.....then ivey calls him a goofball, and hellmuth replies with something like "you're a little goofy yourself buddy"....haven't seen that clip since it was aired

From this link: I raised to $20 and a tight old man to my left made it $50. Ellix then moved all in for $90. The tight old man asked if he could reraise, which told me what he had, aces or kings, but when I heard that he couldn’t reraise I decided to call.

Why couldn't he reraise?

From the TDA rules:

Quote:
If a player puts in a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet but less than
the minimum raise, he or she will be required to make a full raise. The
raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed. In no-limit and pot limit,
an all-in bet of less than a full raise does not reopen the betting to a
player who has already acted

Learn something new every day I guess.
So after the $50 raise, the "minimum raise" would be $100, then $200, $400 etc?
Or do these rules only apply to all ins?
Eg, if the guy had money behind, would the minimum raise be like online poker: $80?
And if THAT is true, could he have raised to $80 and not closed the action? (As he wouldn't be all in, having $10 left)

Hmmm true, but what I thought was really weird how ellix had so much equity and played like he didnt give a ****. Though probably not that weird since he was a homeless degen type guy.

Anyways I'm responding to a really old post.

why couldnt he rise here though
first raise is to $20 and then reraised to $50 total
If he goes all in for $90 thats a reraise of $40 which is more then the original reraise for $30
So I would have to think he would be allowed to reraise here
I though as long as you reraise at least the amount that reraised it is all good

The previous bet is 50 $...so 100$ is the minraise.
