I’ve been doing my weekly podcast for quite a while now. We’re on episode #30 with a wider range of guests, including Fedor Holz, Steffen Sontheimer, Bencb, JNandez, Elliot Roe to name a few.

The most recent episode was with Michael Franzese, who used to be a high ranking member of the Colombo Mafia family in New York – yeah, I know some of you might think wtf does he have to do with poker, but check it out and you’ll see the point.

Tomorrow I’ll publish the episode with Phil Galfond and the next few weeks are looking mighty exciting as well. I won’t namedrop just yet, but I’m sure many of you will love the upcoming guests – some big names with amazing stories.

I’m starting this thread to get feedback from you guys about the episodes, the guests and get your suggestions as to future topics.

The podcast is available on https://www.youtube.com/c/RunchuksPoker and http://runchuks.podbean.com/ as well as iTunes, Spotify and wherever else you listen to your podcasts.

Guess connections to the mafia make self-promotion on NVG doable.
Did you still ask red-mods if you can post this?

Sounds very interesting. Great line-ups that you got.

Actually I didn't ask anyone, I assumed that there should be a problem with this given that the purpose of this thread is to have a discussion about the episodes, the guests and the topics. And those fit right in with the News, Views and Gossip. I will send a msg to the mods just to make sure.

I can ask him, but get the feeling that the answer is going to be "no". I talked to several nosebleed regs. Nobody wants any publicity, which is quite understandable. In 2 weeks time, I will publish an episode with a nosebleed live cash-game player. I'm pretty sure that the topics we talk about (private games, app games, collusion etc.) will piss off quite a few of my fellow high-stakes players. Let's see if they want to come on the show after that

I understand. Maybe he will do a cumicon and only do a podcast after he's retired.

Nosebleed live cash-game also sounds interesting, nice to listen to some quality poker content!

Runchuks is a great guy and a tremendous contributor to the poker community. In addition I am sure his podcast is great. And a thread discussing his podcast could provide value to the 2+2 community. However, regarding this thread I am not sure the above is sufficient to overcome 2+2's policy against "self-promotion". That is a decision for 2+2 Admin.

I haven't listened to the last few episodes, but I think it turned a bit into psychobabble, marketing and productivity type of content bs. Pretty boring stuff that plagues many podcasts on youtube and everywhere else, and not only when the subject is poker.

First few episodes were interesting to listen to I guess. It's understandable that highstakes players aren't that interested to make podcasts. Though the Mediocre poker radio podcasts with HS players and the episodes in the first few years of joeingram1 poker life podcast, with PLO players, was the content that were memorable to listen to. Bring it to nvg to get a bit of negative feedback as expected.

Yeah we'll see what they say. I don't mind to take the thread off if they think this is not a forum for this discussion. I sent a message to one of the mods. Waiting for reply.

I know that not everyone will like every episode, that's natural Some of them are better than others. Well, check out the last couple episodes and then one that's coming out tomorrow and let me know if you think I'm on the right track.

Just published a little teaser for the upcoming episode with Thallo. I'll publish the full episode on Friday.

I'm quite curious to see what kind of responses I will get about this episode. We cover a few controversial topics. Some people will probably be very upset. Oh well

Hi Runchucks:

Given that we don’t have a podcast anymore, I have no objections to some self-promotion provided that top quality information is being delivered. So, to that end, since I don’t know you, why don’t you tell us a little more as to who you are and what your show has to offer.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Mason,

Thank you! I appreciate it. A few words about myself - I’ve been playing poker for a living for over 13 years. PLO cash is my main game. Runchuks is my screen name on PokerStars. My regular limits are 2k+PLO online and 10k+PLO live.

I started my podcast about half a year ago as a hobby project and quickly came to love it. It is always a lot of fun digging into interesting topics with different people. At first, the topics of the episodes were mostly centered around what my students would find useful. And while I still often talk to my guests about different aspects of the mental game in poker, routines, habits, study approaches, and processes, lately I broadened the scope.

Upcoming episodes in the next few weeks will feature a world-class close-up magician/card mechanic, world chess champion, and other top performers in various fields. My goal is to explore what it takes to become a top performer, and what can poker players take away from that. And of course, occasionally we will continue to talk about degen stories and success stories with my fellow poker pros and an occasional recreational player

Just published the episode with the fantastic Richard Turner. He is the best card mechanic in the world. If you know what the term "card mechanic" means, then you've probably already heard about Richard Turner and thus you're probably already watching the video. If you haven't heard of the term and consider yourself a poker player - well you better start watching it right now.

Hey guys, I published the episode with GM Vladimir Kramnik. I highly recommend checking it out, even if you're not familiar with chess. Vladimir is one of the most highly regarded World Chess Champions of the modern era.

We talk about chess engines and the new chess AI - AlphaZero, and how those changed the way we approach studying, and understanding chess as well as what might the future hold and we also talk about the draw-backs of blindly following the engines or poker solvers for that matter. The poker industry is experiencing the same types of changes with the rise of the poker solvers and there are many lessons we can take-away from the chess world.

Vladimir also talks about his journey in chess, the famous match against Gary Kasparov, what it takes to compete at the highest level, how does his preparation look like, his approach to the competition, how Vladimir handles the pressure, aesthetics of chess and his work on creating new exciting variants of chess.

This week the guest is Mason Malmuth himself. Feels great to post this on TwoPlusTwo Mason has a great new book out. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. It takes a look at historical events through a gambling lense.

This is a wide-ranging conversation where we talk about gambling in general, discuss some of stories from the book and talk about poker, what makes a good game, what makes a good player. We talk about rake, about regulation, poker room politics, tournament structures and guarantees, and so much more. I really enjoyed this conversation, I hope you will too
