Tried watching earlier right as Hellmuth had showed up and was having issues with choppiness. Switched over to wi-fi and had the same issues...

Would have liked to be able to watch on the Kindle but they don't support the platform...

Would be really interested in subscribing to see end of this tourney and the wsop coverage. Not excited about the reports of choppy playback especially since it's buttery smooth on twitch.tv.

Also hate the fact that you need to call them to cancel your monthly auto-renewal.

I'd recommend trying it out yourself before subscribing. Earlier everything turned to large pixels for about 8 seconds. Aside from that I have experienced no choppy playback on the PokerGo broadcast.

Not to mention here on 2Plus2 and other poker chat forums, Poker Twitter and Poker News web sites, etc etc etc.

Plus TV shows that most consumers have already paid for through their TV/Cable/Satellite such as WPT, WSOP, Pokerstars Championship, Shark Cage etc. High Stakes Poker is also mooted to be coming back with a new series.

So I don't see many people paying a subscription for just a small portion of the total available content that is out there, other than a small number of total poker fanatics, and some top pro players for whom observing their adversaries' play is essential.

Most apps and services nowadays seem to be free, to gain a big subscription base, and then monetize themselves with premium paid for content options and advertising or sponsorship.

So for poker, which let's face it in the grander scheme of things is quite a narrow market, I don't see a paid for subscription service for only a small percentage of the poker that is out there, being too popular.

Also, a lot of potential subscribers are busy playing poker themselves a lot of the time, or busy with other work or with their personal lives, which is why free content is appealing as you can dip in and out of it when you want to and when you have time.
I agree with this post. Interesting imo that in-house subscription model is going to take precedence over exposure to 20k combined Twitch/YouTube Day 1 live viewers.

This service isn't like the UFC or WWE "house show" models where there is a ton of freely available branded content to support the sub service. I wish them well though... Day 1 has definitely been entertaining to watch & see new fans engage in the Twitch/YT chats.

As expected, the service is completely unusable from Australia. Somehow on a 4.5mb/s connection I'm unable to get it to even stream at 480p without buffering. Twitch is going fine in 720p.

I'm not sure for the technical reasons for this, I'm assuming YouTube/Twitch have some oceanic CDN or something that the small players can't tap into? Or is it just incompetence?

For the 50% of the time the video is actually playing the quality seems fine. Except for a bit there where it went extremely pixelated. Curiously enough that bit still buffers as bad as the rest of the stream, so it almost seems like their computers are struggling to encode the video in real time, rather than it being a distribution problem?

It seems like it would make a lot of sense to offer day 1 of every big tournament for free on Twitch/Youtube/Facebook which would bring in new users who have already become invested in the tournament at hand. It would be similar to how the UFC offers preliminary fights for free (which was an idea I stole from WWE). I suppose they may still do this.

On a side note, my poker central stream completely died at 2am CST. Twitch is still going strong.

Problems running it from Thailand as well. When running the stream it worked for a few minutes but made my poker tables laggy then they timed out multiple times. Soon after the stream itself kept lagging out.

Meanwhile i could run it on twitch fine with no lag on any of my poker tables or on the stream itself.

Watching it on Twitch is great because it has chat. Having a chat room for the stream makes it even more entertaining imo. Guess I'll be in the 2+2 thread tomorrow.

I believe PokerGo will also be streaming a bunch of the WSOP action through the service only. Not sure if it will be on Twitch again for free this year for any of it.

I'm curious how many people are even interested in paying any amount to watch poker given there is so much free content out there.

The first time I tried to connect I couldn't, but tried a few mins later and had no problems on Sydney, altho over cable / wi-fi. I popped in and out over the day.

In relation to the WSOP, what will they be streaming that others won't? Is it possible to get hold of a schedule somewhere?

Interesting, would someone with access confirm this button exists for me? In other parts of the ToS they say you need to call in and cancel and I even messaged the PokerCentral guy on the Twitch stream and asked and he said calling in was required to cancel but promised a painless process.

It just feels like companies need to be making their high quality content the barrier for not wanting to cancel, not the process itself.

I still think Ali is top 2 or 3 in the business. I was disappointed that we didn't get an "Oh boy" when Hellmuth flopped the set of 10s and Justin flopped the straight with the 68h or when he flopped the set of 3s and Kevin flopped the set of Qs.

I love the "oh boy" before the ensuing Hellmuth blow up.

Anyone know if they are filming a SHRB cash game this year? If not, I would say that the PokerGo App/subscription is off to a very bad start.

The "Live Events" tab shows that they will be streaming:

All of the Super High Roller Bowl
Day 2 onwards of the $111,111 HR for One Drop
All of the 10k Heads Up
Final Tables of 1.5k NL 6-max (wut?) and 1.5k Millionaire Maker

FWIW, streaming from Toronto, I had no issues watching on PokerGo.com - crystal clear and excellent stuff from Schulman as always.
