And if it is anything like the way they handled the SHR if you login to watch the replay they post the winner spoiler right on their front page. They need to make some adjustments.

I thinks cool were streaming day 2, 3 ect but overall I'm disappointed. Add few people and stream the final tables. No reason not to stream 10k tag team right now.

This. Would be more than happy to also watch FT streams with 0 commentary too, just showing the action from 2-3 angles with holecards.

Having guest commentary or normal commentary for the bigger events too as per their schedule, but ffs, stream every FT.

We are going backwards here vs last few years

There is a lot of free poker and free poker content out there. E.g. PNIA, Live at The Bike,

Not to mention here on 2Plus2 and other poker chat forums, Poker Twitter and Poker News web sites, etc etc etc.

Plus TV shows that most consumers have already paid for through their TV/Cable/Satellite such as WPT, WSOP, Pokerstars Championship, Shark Cage etc. High Stakes Poker is also mooted to be coming back with a new series.

So I don't see many people paying a subscription for just a small portion of the total available content that is out there, other than a small number of total poker fanatics, and some top pro players for whom observing their adversaries' play is essential.

Most apps and services nowadays seem to be free, to gain a big subscription base, and then monetize themselves with premium paid for content options and advertising or sponsorship.

So for poker, which let's face it in the grander scheme of things is quite a narrow market, I don't see a paid for subscription service for only a small percentage of the poker that is out there, being too popular.

Also, a lot of potential subscribers are busy playing poker themselves a lot of the time, or busy with other work or with their personal lives, which is why free content is appealing as you can dip in and out of it when you want to and when you have time.
Yep, all of this. An excellent discussion on all of this starts at 03:38:00 here: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/dru...d-911-50273765

I doubt they barely have 5,000 paying subs at this point. Hell, the free streams I doubt rarely got over 12,000 live viewers...
You have the right idea but their retention rate would be no where near 40% more like 5-10% max.**

I'll tell you one thing it will be an interesting conversation with their advertisers after just the SHR event.

Adman: So how many tuned in to watch the show?
pGo: Well we had 14K or so the first day on Twitch.*
Adman: Awesome!! and what about the other days they must have been even higher?
pGo: Well no we averaged 1500 or so for the final 3 days.**
Adman: What? Why so low?
gGo: We moved to our own platform and opened a subscription service charging $10 each to watch the final 3 days.
Adman: Oh... so much of the $10 do we get?
pGo: umm..well you get don't any.
Adman. Nice, that's nice. You do know it's 2017 right?

* close to the number I remember seeing for twitch viewers on day 1

It was going to be in July this year too but was moved up to accommodate Super High Roller Bowl players who will still be in town. If they moved it for Leon, then I approve. I can't wait to watch!

I doubt this even pulled 3k subs. You have to keep in mind the people posting here are the biggest poker fans on the planet. If anybody would subscribe for this service it would be us. Of however many people did get this some will cancel as well. I've talked to a few hardcore poker players off of 2+2 who have no interest in this whatsoever. People might want to check into twitch for a couple hours but not be commited to a monthly service that takes time to cancel.

They should of went with a cheaper quality stream on twitch. Cut Ho and some of the other unneeded commentators to keep the budget down. Then they could use the "this is a free service we need donations to run the stream and you get access to the vods" as a line to make back money on top of ads. Then they actually get access to all those video gamers and grow the game with them rather then the small % of the playerbase whos going to buy this.

Canceled + refunded my sub today. Honestly 10 bucks/month is probably still worth it for the content that they have listed, but out of principle I'm not supporting a paid content service that offers less content that was given for free last year. Would have been so much better for poker if they put the same content for free on twitch and monetized the vods.

Exactly this, I would have paid for what was put out last year, but they have made it worse and are charging for it

I think they topped out at 21k live viewers on Day 1 of the SHRB when they put that on Twitch (perhaps higher, I saw 21k though) and then whatever they got on YT.

That. Something I haven't seen mentioned and I'll mention it since I don't want to echo others and I'm a nit: I hate so much that they advertise their service while we're watching the stream. We already know about your product and are paying for it, please stop ****ing advertising it. I am not keeping PokerGo.

Yeah that's really frustrating. Our cable TV companies in Australia are notorious for this. You're watching Fox Footy and there's a ****ing minute long ad about how great Fox Footy is. Like come on guys...

And yeah, some content is better than no content, but I'm choosing not to subscribe as well since I'm super unhappy about the decision to not show 3/4 of the tournaments.

What's tilting is if they were worried about getting commentary for all those streams it's not needed!! A lot of time the table talk is better, just nice to see hole cards.... and you throw out a tweet saying anyone want to commentate on X final table stream you will have a few top quality pros to choose from who volunteer

Mori Eskandani hinted very strongly on Chicago Joeys podcast that there was a lot of new cash game content coming very soon but that was before the Poker Go announcement. He obviously knew that was coming though so my assumption is it is for Poker Go.

That said, the SHR Bowl cash game was really good last year from the bits I saw of it, seems odd they haven't had one this time around

When I emailed them asking for the refund and politely stated my reasoning, the response I got was incredibly insulting as well.

"We have over 100 scheduled events, so thank you for your concern".

No you don't bro, you have 6 events scheduled before the main and 0 coverage of any other event. If you are going to not even be streaming those events at a minimum maybe you could put chip counts and updates in the app? Like anything? We got to watch most events for free last year.

Interesting, sure would love to hear what they are...

I'll be impressed if they somehow miss three quarters of the WSoP then find another 85 events throughout the year to stream.

How are you coming up with 6?

From this article, I see way more than 6, in fact, if its accurate, the coverage looks pretty good, especially if the production quality is anything like the SHRB:

I wouldn't mind seeing Hellmuth, Dan Smith and Sam Stein.

I got my info directly from the app, half of these are not listed. The "live events" page shows exactly 8 events before the main, with most of them just being final tables.

I mentioned in my previous post, I do believe that the content right now is worth 10$ a month. The issue is that they have overall less coverage, with 3-4 marquee events. I openly admit the production of the SHR was really good, but its a paid content service that's offering less live content then was available for free last year. If you have the broadcasting rights, why wouldnt you be streaming every single FT even without commentary>

they should have just kept WSOP live as the strong service for the other events and just let PokerGo do the main event. That seems to be their primary focus.
