I just picked this up yesterday. It's an app for the iPad (maybe the iPhone too), that is very useful to the live player. This program records your live bankroll and individual sessions, though I track my online play with it as well, and organizes the data by location played, BR played with and a little more.

Before or after your sesh (cash or tourney. individual tabs for each), fill in the preset fields with your game info: game, stake, limit type, location, buyin, notes, buyin/tips, start time, break time, end time and cash out. The default games are HORSE and Blackjack but totally customizable. The limit types are all there- no limit, limit, pot limit, mixed limit and spread limit.

Once you do that, the Report tab will break down your net profit/loss, hours played, net bankroll, games and day played. I haven't put many sesh's into it yet, but it can graph your progress as well. I like it because it is very customizable and thorough.

I am not affiliated in any with with the developers of this or the program itself, it is just very helpful and I thought ya'll should know about it. Check it out.

Great program. Here are two things I think it needs that come to mind now:

I think the x-axis on the graphs should also be toggled by hours. This is nitpicky but wouldn't be a hard modification.

I think there should also be an easy way to keep track of staking agreements for tournaments and cash games. This is useful as lots of pros/regs stake friends for lower limits or swap action for tournaments etc. Keeping track of make up over long periods of time can be a pain. Would be nice if it there was a way to do it on the program.

The program works with iPods and iPhones also. I've been using it for over a year and find it well worth it for tracking hours and BR.

That and Sidepod (for odds calculations) get constant use.

PokerJournal is much better IMHO, much more complete feature set when I compared them last summer, though I thought PIP was easier to enter sessions with.

"sesh"? really?

This certainly seems like a good app, and yet another reason for me to want an iphone.

Poker Journal >> Poker Income Pro simply because of the live session functionality.

You pull up the app, click the plus at the upper right hand corner and it prefills the stake, location (based on GPS), buyin amount, etcetc that you have selected in setup as the defaults. Then you just hit start game. Throughout the session you can open it to add rebuys, take notes, increment the tokes/tips for the session. I find it much easier to be keeping track of these things in real time than to have to enter all of it after the fact. Plus the start and end times are exact for each session instead of guesses.

Another vote for Poker Journal. I have not tried PIP, but PJ makes it very easy to track my live cash game and tournament sessions while I'm playing. I just wish it multitasked so I didn't have to reload it every time I use it during the session.

Poker income pro has the same live in session functionality. Doesn't have gps aware location though. But that's one setting you had to toggle which is silly since ou have to enter buy in and stakes anyways.

Poker Journal FTW.

Does Poker Journal easily download onto/export to your laptop? I'm not sure I would want a program that I had to run only on my iphone or ipad. Having everything in an excel spreadsheet would allow more individualized data mining.

Yup no problem - you pick export and it sends it by email in csv.

To add a little bit...

PI added GPS (though I haven't tried it)

As for entering in live sessions, they really are both equivalent. i.e. an extra click shouldn't be a deal-breaker for anyone. Esp if you play more than one game/level.

That said, PI recently changed their live game entry procedure which ended up adding a step, but again, not that big a deal unless all you play in 1/2 NL @ $200 buy in or something.

What you can do is export data. The export occurs via a csv file that you email to yourself. You can limit data (so you don't resend old data) by setting a filter. I do this all the time.

Last time I checked, you could only log in 3 sessions in the free version. There is likely a similar limitation in the current free version.

I have 344 sessions logged, so the free version wouldn't have really worked for me.
