He prob staked David Williams' action in the game, hence why he folded when he bet.

I would've called and I think most people would've called, but since he had to call 12 to win 21 I guess he didn't like it. It's not a TERRIBLE fold

The answer is in this thread already:

If you watch earlier when DW arrives at the table everyone is making fun of him.

Phil Laak: "what is in that thing? chocolate?" to DW's poser bling (which is still one of the funniest things said on HSP imo)

Esfandiari: "so when did you become good with the ladies... before or after the WSOP"

Then it cuts to Ivey soon after and he is just staring DW down like he wants to walk over and smack him in the face a few times. AJ even says "a hard look from Ivey" and Gabe says basically "I aint touching this one".

Spoiler:
Ivey didn't want to give the poser any extra money chasing his slightly overpriced draw

Maybe he realized that DW puts himself in a spot where you either have to rep the set to make him fold (and he may not) or draw to a flush that won't be paid off. Plus, Ivey is drawing against a big pair where is K out might not be good or against a higher draw.

Ivey certainly must have felt that gameflow wise, he wouldn't be able to take the pot away unless he hit his flush, and then it might not be good. Sometimes, you feel other people's determination. Ivey def would be able to pick that up.

LOL @ all of the idiots trying to define a reason for Ivey's fold.

It was so obviously a misread hand he probably thought he had Kd 5h or Kd 5d.

The worst part about this hand was Gabe Kaplan calling out Phil Ivey. Ivey is so much better than Gabe, how can Gabe possibly critisize Phil ****ing Ivey?

Level?

That's like saying I can't critize a football player on TV who made a huge mistake just because he's better at football than I am. Please gtfo.

lol @ this being a thread.

The price sucks, so there is no call. DW is never paying him off if a heart comes. His only option was raise. He knows his own image, as well as DW's range, so he knows that there is a good chance that DW has a high pair and would 3 bet any raise from Ivey on that flop since Ivey is more than capable of raising with a draw.

I think if Ivey had a straight draw as well as a flush draw, he would have put in the raise and been happy to call a ship. Otherwise, calling is weak and stupid with his hand.

High five to everyone who belongs to a poker forum and couldn't see why that was a good fold.

One more thing, DW's bet could be the A high flush draw. It fits in this spot for sure...
