The low limit 1-2 game I play in is now dropping $1 before the flop (standard) but, if everyone folds and the someone raises and both blinds fold, they drop another $1 and push $1 to the raiser. This is essentially taking 67% of the pot. Does this happen in your local casino?

There is possibly a growing trend to move away from the 'No Flop No Drop' policy, but I've only heard of it on the West Coast and NOT in Vegas. And not to the degree that you are describing. I would definitely not say it's 'standard' by any means.

Not sure how the Dealer even has his mitts on the Blind's chips before action is complete PF. So you are saying that the Dealer grabs the BB and drops it while pushing the SB to the Raiser? This sounds like a Dealer not understanding the policy or a room that really wants to press the action ... or 'punish' the regs from wasting the Dealer's time gong through the dealing process. GL

PS .. Does it matter how big the raise is sized? So if someone raises $100 PF then they get full rake? Not likely ...

Do you know if this is for rake or the bad beat or a promotional fund? Chances are the house has rules for all 3 and these 2 dollars could be going to any of them. Not sure what's standard and what's not depending on the state.

In my room for example, we take the Bad Beat dollar right from the small blind before the hand is even dealt. But in the situation you describe, that's the only dollar that gets taken. The raiser would win $2. No flop = no rake, along with needing $10 in the pot to even have a rake. And we take a promo dollar at $20.

I've seen them do the $1 before action starts in Oregon. I guess the players get used to it - I think it's the promo drop and it goes down the slot immediately so if there's a raise to 8 and the SB calls they only put in 7.

I've seen something like what you describe in Florida.

It's not standard, but as long as the dealers are following the procedure about all you can do is (calmly!) let management know you plan on taking your business elsewhere, then actually do it. Hopefully there is another room for you to go to.

I would rack up, ask for the floor supervisor and tell them why I'm leaving.

They get their paycheck regardless, virtually no one else will leave, you would likely come back, and they don't give a damn.

People have been speculating that card rooms will get rid of 'no flop, no drop' eventually.

One day, one of the big casino hotel chains will introduce preflop rake and everybody else will follow. See resort fees and parking fees in Vegas.

What would be the reason that you're leaving? That the house is taking 67% of the world's smallest pot? Or that so many hands don't see the flop that the game is boring?

If I raise preflop and I take down a $2 pot, I'm tipping $1 to the dealer anyway. Shrug.

The WSOP has gotten rid of No Flop No Drop years ago. I have no idea if it is the case at all their stops or at any Caesars properties at other times. Of course the rake he is describing would not be legal in Nevada because it exceeds 10% (I'm assuming one dollar was promo and $1 was rake)

We got rid of no flop no drop a number of years ago. No chop yes drop. No promo unless the game is 10/20+ which since we're still mostly limit is nearly every pot. But I think blind steals might be rarer in limit anyway?

Actually, they used to rake even with no flop but they got rid of that in 2015. No flop no drop is in effect unless it's changing for this year.

Individual rooms that host circuit events will have their own rules so I can't speak to those.
