Not sure if this has been done before, but this guy is just such an insufferable (is that a word?) deuschebag. He's always wrong about everything, and I also find it wierd that he refers to so many men as "handsome". He has done this at least 3 times that I have counted, and its usually younger men/boys. He's not even funny or entertaining or anything, and makes it difficult for me to enjoy the programming. Not sure why they pay this guy, and hopefully soon he will get caught by the feds with a computer full of kiddy porn. He also always talks about what he would do in the situation, which no-one cares about and is also annoyingly terrible. Just overall fed up with this guy and hope I don't see him in Vegas b/c I might chew him out (nohomo)

well, nothing if you happen to be commentating on a male model/fashion show or something. But I dont think its appropriate in poker commentating. Do you hear basketball announcers ever talk about how Lebron James is dreamy? Do football announcers say Tom Brady's butt looks good in his pads?

people watching on tv take football a lot more seriously than they take poker, it's supposed to be entertaining. it'd be really boring to most people if it was just a straight play by play

I agree with this, but I think they could do a little more homework like exactly what tournaments the person has won in the past, what limit games the person usually plays, etc, to have more to talk about. I always found it more entertaining watching poker when a pro commentates like Joe Sebok or somebody. They at least can talk some basic strat that makes sense, and I dont think that gives away too much to the fish. I feel like after a typical person watches norman chad, they are even more confused about poker afterwards, and less likely to say "Hey, let me give this a shot". I dunno. Feels like they don't treat it as a legit sport.

At the end of the day its a case of applying commentary to suit the target audience. Evidently, ESPN don't believe the target audience for their shows is interested in hearing that player X is a 600nl grinder who just 3bet and double floated out of position to an aggressive opener in late position. As most people watching the show wouldn't have a clue what was going on!

Lon is actually one of the best poker commentators. Much better than Vince Van Patten or whoever the hell the WPT has now..I don't even bother watching that **** anymore.

Are you kidding, can you imagine how boring the world series would be without his stupid/funny comments combined with Lon's serious comments.

unfortunately renaming the thread still makes it incorrect. Norm is probably the only one who makes you want to watch random strangers play poker. Every other tv poker event relies on big name pros for entertainment.
