I was watching a Triton Poker show shr 2018 jeju nlh cash game and I heard Jason Koon call Victor Blom a “f’ing degenerate” because allegedly when he had aces he would turn the “run it twice “ button off of the Poker site.
Isn’t it obvious when someone turns of the run it twice option?

Degenerate: 1. having lost the physical, mental, or moral qualities considered normal and desirable; showing evidence of decline.

Turning off RIT simply increases variance, has nothing to do with degeneracy.

I think Blom played most of the time without the "run it twice" option. He likes to play deep and put opponents in tough spots for all their stacks. That was part of his edge in playing NL. I think Doug Polk mentioned this in one of his youtube videos, this didn't work as well in PLO because you can't overbet.

Viktor is one of the biggest legends of all time, he's also a friend of mine. He will tell you himself that he has about a million of the sickest degen stories. I didn't mean it to disrespect him as a person or to say he wasn't an incredible poker player. Running it once when you have AA doesn't make you a degen, it was just a funny side bit to how he's sick and likes to punish in degen ways.

Thanks for chiming in Jason! But the way it sounded was that you were chastising Bloms action of intentionally turning off the “run it twice” option when he had aces. And I would add that you would be correct in doing so.

Just my observation.

But running it twice or once doesn't change EV, you are crazy to make a deal out of it.

It reduces variance, otherwise why would anyone do it?
