Again this is from 2011, I'm not sure if any things changed in the past 6 years but it is interesting.
This is definitely the only way the can feasibly do it. Imagine the outrage from pro players if they did it any other way, but since we have had none, it's very clearly all above board.

Anybody complaining about the focus on Kassouf need to remember that he didn't edit the shows. He just maximized his edge using the letter of the law and finding holes in them. He's a lawyer, so he's spent quite lot on tuition to be trained on that.

If anybody annoyed the sh*t out of me in the whole ordeal was the floor staff who were completely unable to keep the situation under control. They didn't seem to know existing rules and made up new ones on the fly instead.

Where I agree with him thoroughly is that the other players need to learn just to shut out annoying noises if they need to think, whatever those noises may be.

Re: Kassouf Poll

finally watched a bunch of coverage a few days ago. i hate, hate, hate kassouf. i'd like to think i could have avoided feeding into his act by getting caught up and arguing back and forth with him, but i don't know how much of him i'd be able to take given the money at stake. one thing i can say though: his knockout hand and the few minutes afterwards, the feeling of satisfaction that washed over me, i've never felt that connected to the action watching any other poker event in my life. all of the previous coverage laid the foundation for the amazing payoff of seeing him finally get bounced the eff out. it was amazing to watch.

Re: Kassouf Poll

If a Kassgoof was at my table, every time it was his turn I'd call clock as soon as allowed. I believe it's two minutes at WSOP and then you can call a one minute clock. Three minutes is more than adequate time.

You have to take a hardline against Kassdouche-type players or they will waste your time and burn your money.

Re: Kassouf Poll

The problem with his speech play is he repeats the same lines over and over again. Of course for players who spend their time yapping, it is best to call the clock on them when 2 minutes or more have past. I am not a fan of Jack Effel and the tournament staff's approach to handling him.

But hey, Will's speech play led to the funny "check your privilege" quote that still needs to be the premier Poker meme for awhile longer.

I think he is great and great for the game, minus his tanking. He needs a few more lines. what is the point in live if everyone is gunna hide there face and pretend they are online. When I watch live I want to see banter and drama, its meant to be entertaining and I think that is what he brings love him or hate him.

Love him while watching him on TV; probably hate him while playing with him.

If he stops taking so much time and comes up with some new lines then a lot more people would switch from hatin' to lovin'.

Re: Kassouf Poll

I think Bleznick tagged him correctly. Just a tool playing in a tournament way too big with people that for the most part outclass him. Trying to angleshoot or get a read on someone that typically plays $3500-$25000 tournaments regularly made him look out of his league to any experienced poker player. Meanwhile ESPN trying to market their product by televising some assclown and thinking this will draw viewers, when TV poker jumped the shark a long time ago.

He outclassed and outplayed nearly all of his opponents on the biggest stage, and entertained a large percent of the audience, and cashed big. Maybe you prefer Phil Ivey vs. Patrick Antonius in a completely silent heads up battle but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kassouf do his thing.

They're still among us and they create user names just to let us know it.
