I know poker is 50/50 in terms of luck and skill and I always thought Jamie Gold was bad/lucky but........ OMG!!!! this kid is unbelievably lucky... he got his money in dominated/way behind every shove.... every time he raised, got reraised and then pushed with the worst hand.... this kid has no ability to read his opposition, especially when his opponants are representing big hands.... not once did i see this kid make a decent laydown.... just constant pushes with major suck outs....

any thoughts...........................

No he's not he's the best because everyone obviously already knows the best player always wins final tables of donkaments.

luckiest maybe, but he's a good player

it's funny because i think his AJ call against shulman was by far his worst played hand but people are obsessing over the 2s and 3s hands because those were his big suckouts

news flash: the 2s was blind vs. blind for like 40 BBs. if saout is restealing there any reasonable amount of the time, and he's a good aggro french guy so most likely he is, then it's standard. he should get a ton of folds pre, and when he gets called his equity is not that awful since even though there are plenty of overpairs, AK/AQ make up a good portion of saout's likely calling range (and if he somehow folds AQ then that's even better)

i'm not crazy about the shove with 3s on shulman, but as weakly as shulman was playing it's not unreasonable to think he'd fold most non-monster hands there. he may have folded 9s (again). he had a big pair, so what

Been discussed, same exact thread has been created,

I point you to Yang, Gold, Russ Hamilton, and Hal Fowler, and to the many many threads on NVG.

I've been defending Joe Cada a lot and respect his play a lot more than Darvin Moon's, but after reading your posts I have to honestly say this:

I'm so sick of this. I don't care if Cada is the greatest player ever and is Stuey reborn or whatever...HE DID NOT PLAY WELL AT THE FINAL TABLE. HIS PERFORMANCE WAS FILLED WITH MIS READS AND BAD DECISIONS. He played Moon the worst way possible...he could have easily lost that race w/ 99s at the end and blown all that money when grinding out a win vs Moon should be cake for such an "amazing and skilled player."

threads like these are POINTLESS

he played the way he felt was the best way to play and he SHIPPED THE mofo.. thats all that matters. Poker isnt all about numbers and %'s but instincts and feelings.

My thoughts are if you think Texas Hold Em, WSOP final table = 50% luck and 50% skill, I'd like to play poker with you.

i think this has been pointed out already, but cada only played bad in the sense that he played the FT like it was an online STT. you pretty much need to be bluff 4bet shoving 22 or 33 online, or youll get eaten alive.

against the likes of jeff schulman, just doesnt seem like the greatest idea. most of the people at that FT were definitely not aggrotard online players, and that should have been a consideration for cada; it clearly wasnt.

I agree. I forgot to mention that, his spewy moves notwithstanding, I think it's safe to say that Cada was probably the 2nd or 3rd best player at the table.

I agree, especially in a pressure situation like this. We're not talking about a peanut prize here either.
