In the spots where he hit the sets, he was the agressor and could have won without a showdown. I'm sure ESPN didn't show all the hands being played but from what they showed, I got the impression everyone was being insanely tight so him shoving the small pairs - whatever.

I do agree with the AJ vs AQ where he wound up calling with AJ was ugly but hey, it worked out for $8.5mil. IMHO, being results oriented about $8.5mil @ the age of 21 is probably ok this one time for Cada.

LUCKY yes, in fact extra lucky, but the kid does have game. Certainly not the worst player by any means.

lol the biggest laydown Cada made was the AQ heads up vs Moon and it was the only hand he was actually ahead in!

I am sorry but Cada played bad in some key spots and got super lucky. I mean what is Cada thinking with the 33 hand against Schulman's JJ?? Cada goes all in with 33 over Schulmans's raise from early position and Schulman had been playing ultra tight the whole FT. Does Cada really think his threes are beating anything there. At the best he is a flip and he didn't have too much FE if I remember correctly so WTF? Why not fold and open shove the next hand?? Horrible play. I haven't seen the whole FT play out but from that hand and oh yea I just remembered another hand. The bluff against Moon with 36o I think it was. Are you kidding me? He minraises on the river?? Does he think Moon is ever folding any ace when he is getting such odds? We are talking about Moon here and he has tons of chips?! WTF. I have no doubt there will be other hands I will see later once ESPN airs the rest but just from that...pitiful.

This dude is terrible. Only Moon played worse, but had 8 billion chips to play with from previous luckboxing.

So sick that these 2 finished 1,2.

Saout should have won easily once it got 3-handed. Boring ass final table.

news flash: the 2s was blind vs. blind for like 40 BBs. if saout is restealing there any reasonable amount of the time, and he's a good aggro french guy so most likely he is, then it's standard. he should get a ton of folds pre, and when he gets called his equity is not that awful since even though there are plenty of overpairs, AK/AQ make up a good portion of saout's likely calling range (and if he somehow folds AQ then that's even better)

i'm not crazy about the shove with 3s on shulman, but as weakly as shulman was playing it's not unreasonable to think he'd fold most non-monster hands there. he may have folded 9s (again). he had a big pair, so what
this
he was pretty much the third best player at the final table (countint his ft play only obv)after french guy and buchman. As off total quality, he was probably second best after ivey.

note that he survived AJ call (yes, mistake) just because he played very well before that

I agree that Cada made mistakes and so did Moon at the final table but to call this FT boring is ridiculous. There probably hasn't been a better final table as far as drama, excitement, suckout, atmosphere in years. I listened to almost the entire broadcast at bluffmagazine.com and Cada didn't play that badly for the most parts. You're going to see a lot of the mistakes on TV because they happened to be for a lot of chips but he was playing very well before. His laydown against Ivey with the 10's vs. Ivey's KK probably wasn't that easy of a fold and I believe if it were any other person but Ivey he would call in a heartbeat. Nobody wanted to double up Ivey and anytime he showed interest in a pot they folded.

Cada played very bad and got MASSIVELY lucky. However he is not a douchebag like a few former champs I can think of so I don't think he deserves this much hate. What is he supposed to do, muck the winning hand when he sucks out?

It certainly was the worst FT ever for the "poker is a skill game argument". Moon gave as many suckout bad beats as Cada did and the luckiest two players made it to heads up. 3 handed was just a shovefest too, at least based on coverage. cada is a talented player but I think he was playing the Ft table as if he was playing a HU match and then got uber lucky.

All major televised poker makes poker look like a luck game.

It's a shame that last years chess match w/ Demidov & Eastgate was followed up w/ this debacle. The entire ESPN coverage this year was pretty sad from leaving out the Horse and highlighting the Ante-Up-for Africa.

Moon seemed to play pretty well starting the FT then just picked horrible spots for his biggest moves. He does have a pretty good poker face, I'll give him that

Cada did have more than his fair share of Cantu catches that's for sure, seems like a pretty likeable guy though, so kinda hard to be hating him for winning the thing. BTW, who's this Jerry Yang everyone's been mentioning??

It's so funny people judge and hate on only watching and edited version of the final table. 80 Hands were played in the heads up and ESPN only showed about 6 hands.. Yes Moon was overly aggresive but Cada was just waiting and waiting to bust him. LMAO at everybody thinking the final table hands was only those seen on ESPN!!!

Cada put himself in the position to win. Sure he was lucky, who wins and isn't? The kid hit 22 vs JJ and 33 vs QQ I believe. He had AA hold over a bad K9 push from Moon. He won the pots he could, he sucked out, got lucky and made big lay downs. is he the best who knows, is he the worst, no way. is the champion of the world series, yes.

I don't think I could disagree more. No comparison to last year. Eastgate, Demidov, and Phillips all deserved to be there at the end. Plus, they all played some incredible poker at the final table, and that made the drama real. For each of them, you could say "well played, well deserved." Not so sure that I could mutter either phrase for Moon or Cada.

Some of you said Gold didn't deserve his ME win, but actually he did. He was coached by Johnny Chan to play aggressive and bluff big, and that's exactly what you need to do to win the ME.

Cada on the other hand got extremely lucky. He does play aggressive, but he plays aggressive in a way that is extremely inefficient and weak, but fortunately for him he sucked out every single time he made dumb aggressive plays.

Cada should have been that player who played too bad/aggressive and went out early, but poker rewards bad play a lot of the time.

Pretty much all of his hands on the FT were so standard, even the AJ (you dont raise/fold AJ for 20bb ffs), he just got coolered and got there
