If you had a choice of WPT or WSOP. Same buy in, same difficulty of players. Which event would you rather play in?

I don't know about the states, but in Canada, WPT events are more televised and you have more TV time, which can mean better chance for sponsors and better chance for you to become a regular at more poker shows.

WSOP is less televised but the bracelets are more valuable imo.

WPT just so I can stroke to myself for 2 hours rather than one.

So the only difference being the TV spots and the bracelets? WSOP for sure. The commentary doesn't make me want to kill myself nearly as much as hearing "he's got the weapons of mass destruction". The bracelets are more respected. I don't really see any upside to WPT.

WSOP for the structure and bracelet. Less good players.

Exactly. Whatever one pays the most for your win. Bracelets sound cool but the money matters more and I don't much care about a bracelet count.

I haven't seen the WPT since it (I'm told) moved to FOX Sports.

Apparently, FOX Sports can't get its high-def act together and throw the right amount of money at it. My cable system dedicated a high-def channel to Fox Sports, but it generally shows a rainbow graphic and annoying monotone.

I refuse to watch lo def channels, call me spoiled, call me a moran, I don't care. Just about every other channel I care about has transitioned. I refuse to go back to that crappy picture! LOL

Fox Sports suffers for their incompetence and hence the WPT suffers as well. Their loss, not mine, they need the viewership (I'm told).

Ya WPT hasn't been showing on TV in Canada. But WPT used to be more televised than WSOP. Just a question I have talked about with my friend like a year ago. I wanted to see the response from a real poker forum. As expected WSOP is winning by a land slide.

you know how in the south there is the respect that comes with "old Money" versus the young up start "new Money". its the same with WSOP vs. WPT. the WSOP has a long standing tradition and prestige with it that carries more inherent value.

the WPT is the new money that tried to steal the tradition only to end up failing miserably (is their stock even trading anymore?) their inability to embrace the US market with respect has forced them to try to grow in europe, canada and other places. I will say, at least they're smart enough to go where they can try to make some money, otherwise they would just be GONE.

now lets just hope that harrahs doesn't screw up the WSOP too bad. maybe we should include it in the obama-nation stimulus plan!

I voted wsop assuming it's televised. A wsop ft get's more air time.

Last time I checked they don't have Omaha 8 on WPT.

WSOP... The WPT will speed up their blind structure once they hit the final table to cut down on paying their crew and to make sure it's all televised... Most final tables there only last 5 hours or so, and the blinds end up rising every 1/2 hour or so... WSOP will keep the structure the same, not worry about how long it's taking... Structure is key for me, so WSOP is the way to go...

WPT Tilte is worth far more than the yearly 278 WSOP pre lim events !
