Is there a rule of thumb for drawing hands? Is there a rule of thumb for drawing hands?

Is there a simpler way to figure out what to do with drawing hands? I'm not able to grasp the math behind calculating pot odds let alone calculate it in the short time offered by online games. I'm playing on a very abbreviated system: gut shot bad, open ended flush draw with 2 over cards good. Any help is appreciated.

Not to be overly rude but if you can't do something as simple as calculate pot odds then you are going to have an extremely low ceiling when it comes to your poker ability. It's just remedial division (amount you need to call divided by amount of money in pot). I assume using flash cards or something similar would increase your mental math skill. You can use general spots to estimate. If the amount in pot is twice as much as you need to call youre getting 2 to 1 and need 33pct equity (ratio of 66pct to 33pct is 2 to 1) if the amount in pot is 3 times as much as what you need to call youre getting 3 to 1 and need 25pct equity to call (ratio of 75pct to 25pct is 3 to 1)

Estimating how likely your draw will get there is similar. Number of outs you have divided by number of unknown cards. If you have two overs it means you have 6 outs and if 4 cards are on boards there are 46 unknown cards (52 -4 community cards - your two cards) so your chance of hitting pair on river is 6/46 (though if you magically know youre good if you hit the river then you know your opponents hand so maybe only 44 unknown hands...)

There are tons of free online poker odds calculators, just google it. Play around with how much equity (chance of winning by river) drawing hands have against made hands. This is all just super simple stuff though. In reality you are playing against your opponents range (total number of hands he can possibly have, weighted by how likely he has each specific hand combo) and unless you are calling an allin you have to take into account what will happen on future streets given different cards coming. For example whether he will pay you off if your flush hits, if he's gonna bet again on turn or let you see a free river cards, etc.

People who are gifted at mental math def have an advantage when it comes to online poker but if you put in the work and make flashcards to memorize how likely different draws are to hit, you get yourself on somewhat equal footing.

you want the ratio of outs to non outs to equal or be close to the ratio of call to pot
