STT Simulations: a graphical look into variance STT Simulations: a graphical look into variance

I was trying this for hyper turbo settings, I multiplied everything by 100 so that I would have no need for periods or commas, but the actual payout percent works out to be just over 65% like 65.8888888%, and I end up with some strange results. Like it is telling me that my Actual ROI is 206.38% simulated ROI is 206.35%.....

My numbers as I have them right now are;

Default for simulations and games per sim

Buyin 80

1st 292 : 65%
2nd 158 : 35%

Any ideas on what I can do here?

Your percents are wrong. They should be your finishing percents.

A program called "ROI simulator" will do the same, just without graphics.

Do you have a link for this program as I have been looking for it for ages with no such luck. The links I have found for it are all broken

I'm not really that good with excel but I've created a spreadsheet that will give you three graphs for any finish distribution you supply (up to 18 placed itm finishes), for any amount of games, and any buyin.
(i) the Normal (bell curve)
(ii) CDF, cumulative so you can see what % of time you earn less than x.
(iii) an envelope, showing the max-min spread for the (1% & 99%), and (10% & 90%) levels
Here is an image of them

TourieSpread.xls

just click on the "Download: TourneySpread...." at top of link page

On the sheet you can/should modify any of the non-grayed areas, I was going to 'protect' the sheet but then you can't re-size or move the diagrams - if you want to just go to 'Tools | Protection" and select protect sheet. I have made two sheets - at the moment the first is an STT, the second an 18 seat but you can change these.
