1st pays 102
2nd 61
3rd 41

3 handed
button has 8.8k and has been shoving virtually every hand on the button
I have 5.5k in SB
BB has 3.5k

blinds are 300/600 with a 50 chip ante

I have 66, button shoves.
What do I do?

I think I have to call if I'm playing to win because his range includes some hands that have at least one under to my 6s and with 9bbs and money in the pot folding seems -ev in the long run when it comes purely to chip accumulation.

But what about the fact that if I fold I have a decent chance of moving up to at least 2nd? What do people think about the correct ICM move in this situation. Basically do you call pocket 6s on the SB with the short stack on the big blind when you have 9bbs?

3rd to 2nd is not a big pay jump. I don't think there is a lot of ICM pressure here. You're also far from a lock to make second by folding. However, if you double-up you are a big favorite for first. You probably have ~60% equity and pot odds. Call and I don't think it's close.

According to ICMIZER at FGS5, if BU is pushing > 40% of hands you should call with 66. It sounds like this is the case.

Youre playing to win what? I feel that you mean the whole tourney, but you later mention ICM.

Thats exactly what ICM is for, to account for the fact that you dont have to "win" a SNG to "win" at a SNG.

If McKrogh says its a close fold, thats probably true.

Call is the right play by a mile here. In this spot, with 9bb even pocket 3's and A2s, T9s is +Ev. You're not a lock at all to get 2nd, there is no ICM pressure. Even if you take the slight ICM pressure into consideration and you remove 10-15% even 25% of your rejam range here it's still very very profitable.
