2nd blind level in turbo satellite live tournament. All have around 50 big blinds. UTG raises 2.5x BB I UTG+1 call with JJ and UTG+2 calls everyone else folds. Flop comes 9 2 10 rainbow UTG checks, I check and UTG+2 bets pot. UTG folds I go all in due to his over bet. He shows pocket tens for flopped set.
Been thinking and reading about this hand a lot today and lots of conflicting advice in books and online. A large three bet would have been excessive considering small pot and guy behind had pocket tens probably still would have called. Calling his bet on the flop and folding turn when scare card came was the best most practical line.
3bet pre. Just because it's an sng doesn't mean you can't bet for value early. We also don't really want to play this hand multiway with a lot of limpers. There's already 3 opponents in the hand by the time the action gets to you.
Not folding otf but just flatting may have been the better line. We need villain to stack off with TPTK when we shove otf. Villain can also barrel ott with TPTK, 2nd pair and missed draws if we just flat otf. The trade off is the risk villain makes two pair or better on a later street.
