Playing STT Full time?? Looking for advice! Playing STT Full time?? Looking for advice!

Hi there,

Recently I have decided I want to play STT's full time to try and make a good bit of extra cash each month. I currently have a financially solid job where i have a lot of free time on my hands to play poker.
I have had some success in the past where i really grinded hard for a few months and took $20 and made it into around $600.

My plan is to start by grinding the 9man $3 turbos and then progressing to the 5 and hopefully to the 10s. I play on 888.
I want to take this very seriously and look to grind at least 6 hours a day 5 days a week. I have started with a $300 bankroll(100BI). I would like to think i can grind for a month and then pay myself a wage and leave some in the account to continue to build my roll.Right now i am not looking to pay myself loads each month but a few hundred dollars whilst leaving in some money would be nice. I currently play 4 tables at a time(which i am very comfortable with) but want to try a build up to 6 tables and take it from there.

I would love to hear from some others that grind these types of games and to just see how you go about it and the success you get from it.

Can they be a profitable game in the long run?

I have been playing poker quite a bit for a few years and i love the game and am constantly looking to improve. I feel that my strategy in these games is solid. Could do with some tweaking and work for sure.

Any advice would be really appreciated

I had my first day today of playing and managed to book a win of 30 dollars in 3 hours. I will be back at it tomorrow and pretty much most week day.

Look forward to hopefully hearing from some of you

I would move over to pokerstars if you can because the rake on 888 is much higher.

I wouldn't withdraw anything from your bankroll for the foreseeable future because you're likely to have downswings, and in fact maybe deposit a few bucks each month when possible to build your roll faster and move you up to $10 as soon as you can. The standard between $3 and $10 will be much the same but the rake will lower as you go up so better for your ROI.

Get chatting on Skype with your buddy up there and share and discuss hands that you're unsure about.

Thanks so much for the advice. The only reason i have been playing on 888 is because i find the games so much softer.

Yes i am looking to get up to $10 buy in sngs but want to keep to a 100Buy in rule as i know the games can have big swings.

Once again thanks for responding

i always see that ppl talk about big swings, but tbh i dont think in the lower stakes u can loose 30 bis, im gonna try it and put some grpahs up but IMO its really hard to loose that much coz games are just waaay to soft even on stars at 7's, on the 3.50$ lvl, there are like 2 regs and they are not like specially good

Are you planning on increasing your # of tables or stakes first? I'm curious which is a better approach.

ad swing, no matter how good you are, you will have 30bi swings, just play with this, even if you give yourself 30roi or whatever

I think the goals your describing are definitely achievable but it's difficult to know where your at on the basis of the info provided. Did you grind £20 up to £600 playing the £3 games? What sort of sample do you have? What's your ROI?
My experience of the micro stakes sngs on 888 is that they are noticeably softer than Stars. Other sites are softer again than 888. The standard on Stars in the £3 games is also pretty poor and you will often be gifted a full double up or place in the money by a ridiculous play. These sort of daft plays from opponents are less common at the £5 games and are pretty uncommon in the £10 games.
